Sioux goes of on a Solo adventure in search if some viking graves and unexpectedly finds a neolithic labyrinth and also a lion's head!
Heysham labyrinth.
It is on a flat pavement of rock, at the level of the high tide. It would be submerged by the highest tides.
The Labyrinth carving has parallels with the ones at Rocky Valley, Tintagel, Cornwall there origins may date back to the Neolithic.

I was just amazed that I'd never heard of the Labyrinth before. I asked my dad who has lived in the area forc40 year if he knew about it and he too, knew nothing about it. Just goes to show, It's good to talk. 🙂

Spent many happy hours as a child playing in all the places you filmed in this Heysham clip, thank you so much for awakening the memories. I lived close to where you parked the van. Opposite St Peter’s was the Old Rectory stables (now converted into homes) and behind the stables, as was, is the Rectory house. Don’t know if it is still there. The saying goes that St Patrick landed on beach near Lion’s Head, in order to preach the gospel, hence the name Of the cliff top chapel.

Thanks for watching. I'm curious, had you heard of the Heysham Labyrinth? My dad has lived locally for 40 years and had never heard of it until I told him. Please feel free to share to the locals l. I was fascinating to actually find it, although very worn as it was at the high tide point.

Always amazing what you can find out chatting to the locals. So many hidden gems around the country most people will never have heard about. That was most enjoyable Sioux, a good tour around plenty of rocks and weathered stonework. These are things I enjoy the most when out in quiet places. Interesting history of the Chapel and carved out rocks. Your ability to find things easily missed makes me wonder if you would be good at metal detecting.

Yes it's lovely and peaceful, the stone is on the high tide make so must get worn away a little more each day. I'm amazed I found it to be honest.

Nice Vlog Sioux 👍. There's some lovely views across Morecombe Bay from St Patrick's Chapel and St Peter's Church. Did you know that the stone hewn graves at the chapel were used for the album cover "Best of Black Sabbath"
