When you are in range, you can activate your car's alarm with the fob. The alarm will continue until you deactivate it or the car's battery dies. When you were being followed on the hike, activating that alarm as soon as you got close enough to your car would have drawn the attention of the other people in the parking lot. Some good tips. I never wear headphones out in public, I am always aware of what is going on around me, and I automatically sit facing the door in a restaurant, etc. In Canada, we are not allowed to carry pepper spray, handguns, tasers, kabutons, or other defensive/offensive weapons. Loud whistles are OK. Oddly, though, the rate of attacks against women is lower than in the USA. We focus a lot more on not getting into situations in the first place. I do always keep my hotel door locked and I have the door jamb in my travel bag. I also always wear a multi pocket vest or jacket, and when I go down for breakfast or otherwise leave my room, I keep all my valuables and ID in an inner pocket. I don't leave things like that in my room, even for a few minutes.

@@SunniNomad I don't carry a box cutter when I fly, although I do have a multitool in my toiletries bag for my just-in-case motel bag (which always lives in my vehicle). I suspect it's not actually allowed onto a plane, but I always throw my keys (which are on a VERY busy keychain, I swear I could survive in the wilderness for a month with all the junk I keep on my key chain!!) in the security screening bin along with my jacket and other stuff, and it's never been questioned. I just got that type of utility knife thanks to a previous video of yours. Buying blades at the destination is brilliant. Regarding typical wallet items, I have three different pouches for them: 1. Little coin purse with coins and bills I expect to spend during the day. This is the one I bring in and out of my bag for the most part. 2. Another pouch for bigger bills, placed elsewhere. 3. A third pouch for credit cards and ATM cards. I rarely pull this out because if I don't use cash, I normally prefer mobile payments. I also once had a decoy coin purse in one of the outer pockets of my bag. A thief stole it. It had supplements in it LOL. I no longer do this because I've since changed bags, but I imagine I'd do it again if I use a similar bag someday (one with pockets a thief can easily open). I might put some Bible verses in there haha.

@@wavamy that’s an awesome idea! I have some expired drivers licenses that I should carry with me and I never thought about having to hand it over at a resort but recently I’ve been helping my parents look for an apartment and they have asked for my ID and kept it until I got back and this way They don’t have my real ID in case they decide to confiscate it or lose it! Thank you so much for sharing that🥰🙏

When I was walking my kid in his pram I bought bone conduction headphones. They work great. Sound is okay to good (perfevt for podcasts/audiobooks) but you can still hear everything around you.

@@alimfuzzy definitely try this once for Swimming and they didn’t work so good so I sent them back, but I’m definitely thinking about giving them a try for walking! Thank you for sharing!

Don’t ever walk trails alone, they are huge for creeps. I know it’s nice but not worth the high risk. Walk the neighborhood or mall. I’d buy a pass for an amusement park if I lived in Orlando.

@@lesliereynolds4492 unfortunately you are right and it’s something that as someone who travels solo a lot I don’t always have a choice if I want to go see things and do things it’s a risk, but I would say for the most part. I’m usually pretty safe, but I always want to be prepared😊

The sliding door locks are sold out. Boo! I travel for work and one of the places I stay is a crappy hotel in a small town with ground floor sliding doors. 23 months until retirement!

You can have neither pepper spray nor a knife in the UK

@@josephinecronin1195 correct. That’s exactly what I show the video and telling people to always do their research before flying somewhere with these items.

In place of pepper spray I carry a very small deodorant spray.
@TheoryofSimple7 күн бұрын
@@rickyjay2471 interesting, I guess it would burn if it got in someone’s eyes. Do you know how far that would spray?
@rickyjay24716 күн бұрын
@TheoryofSimple fortunately never had to use, but it will certainly slow down an assailant. Not only it sting their eyes but it would also make them cough.

How are you travelling with pepper spray and a knife?
@TheoryofSimple7 күн бұрын
@@carriewoodward-c1l like I sent the video you have to understand where you’re going and if you’re allowed to bring it. If it’s someplace where I can bring pepper spray and my airline allows me to pack it. I’ll put it in my checked baggage along with my knife and I usually stick those in my shoes in my checked baggage with socks, stuffed into the shoes.

TEST THE CAMERAA scanner in your own place. is thr idea I just thought about just now. Place a phone camera on somehwere and test it. I hope that helps. Thank you for all these safety tips.

@@iLibertynextchapter yeah I really should do that. I never really thought about doing that. I guess I’ll have to buy some sort of camera to try that out.😊
