Glad you enjoyed the adventure, but your vid will likely NOT appear in any GoPro commercials anytime soon - too bad. Looks like it was a pleasant flying experience for you, especially as a first-timer to the big show.

I met your buddy Glenn right here at Oshkosh this year! He was down the same row my Tri-Pacer was parked in, he came over and hung out a few times during the week. He sent me to your channel, and your videos are great! Keep it up! I'm just north of you in Michigan.

Back when Oshkosh was still in Rockford, my high school sweetheart's dad owned a Tri-pacer. Fun airplane. He didn't get to park it with the "classics" back then, though.

This was an amazing video despite the mishaps. Even though those storms didn't hit Oshkosh as bad as they predicted. I definitely think you made the right decision getting out of there. I hope you got your mug back on the return flight. As always thank you for taking the time to share these with us all.

I agree. I got everything I wanted out of the trip which was just an overview. I think it was the right call too! I didn’t get the mug back. Someone snagged it. Haha

Hi David found your flog so happy I did. I grew up in Xenia and worked at the green county Airport back in 72-73. Live in Fort Lauderdale since 75. Got my ppl in 85. Love your videos.

Jerry. Thanks so much for reaching out! I lived in fairground road in Xenia for a while but am not in Kettering. Our goal is to get a place in Florida too as soon as the market tanks. Haha.

The Wednesday storm was really a sad thing for the event because so many left in anticpation of the storm. I had hoped to drive up pulling my small camper and stay in Camp Scholler, but the trip for me was a thousand mile drive, which would have been very taxing, if not taxiing. :-) Then the storm news hit, and I figured that it would have been stressful being a sitting duck in the campground. So, maybe next year. Sorry about your mug, and video wise, right after you had praised it. Such irony. Thanks for posting.
@davidschmaus13 жыл бұрын
Yeah. That’s a long trip for sure. Hopefully we have a clean week of weather next year for the trip. Yeah. The mug was a bummer but not the end of the world! :)

@@davidschmaus1 I noticed how quickly you seemed to recover from the realization that you had left it on the gas pump. That was impressive and important, safety wise. I was watching for N6904D in the EAA-LIVE video streams, but didn’t find it.

Was wondering after the Part 1 video what your fuel plan would be, as I would think you would want to be topped up in case there was a hold during the Oshkosh arrival. Kudos for great trip planning. Count your blessings when your major mishaps were an AWOL coffee mug and cameras that didn't cooperate. The Tri-Pacer sounded like it was humming contentedly. Your videos are a tonic to the soul. It was good to hear that you are enthused about going back to Oshkosh next year! Maybe you'll be part of a mass Pacer arrival...

Thank you! Yeah. I’m already making sure I’m open for the whole week next year. Hopefully I’ll be able to arrive with the group next year. Thanks for watching!

19:53 Yes, awesome. I never get tired of listening to Osh controllers. Jet Boil FTW! Coffee mug is the only mishap? That's a good flight.

Yeah. I got chills hearing it. Yep. The coffee mug was the only mistake. I’ll take that as a win. :)

David, love your videos! I'm a Wisconsin native, so welcome to Oshkosh. Also, Fort Atkins airport is my home dropzone for skydiving so it was pretty exciting to see you land there for fuel. Keep up the great work!

I was excited riding with you waiting for "our turn" to be identified on arrival. I did miss that you edited the full arrival. 1) I wanted to watch you rock the Tri Pacer's wings, and 2) I love listening to the tower controller bring you in to your assigned colored dot! -hehe ...It's amazing to listen to this well choreographed arrival of aircraft coming from all over. Quite awesome you got to be part of it all! Congratulations! (Btw, Seriously, he called you a Cessna?! Glad he corrected for takeoff otherwise you would have had to wait to takeoff.) Great video, Nice walk around the grounds. Awesome first Oshkosh ...even with the weather. (Maybe in future videos leave a run up occasionally, really enjoy listening to the engine purr.) Thanks!

Hey David great seeing the video I unfortunately lost day 1 audio/video trying to keep ahead of running out of space and accidently deleted it. I'm behind so great to live through your lens. Super stoked we got to meet and look forward to flying with you in the future. 38+ hours in the Mighty Tri videos coming I'm trying to get caught up and released one today about the upgrades. BTW the camera's are a curse, love when they work and infuriating (James Good's words) when they don't work. I left 1pm on Wednesday fearing the storm. Keep up the great work my friend.

@@davidschmaus1 well the 160 hp is pretty good. Flying alone, I climb about 1000 ft/ minute and cruise about 120 mph at 2400 rpm. Without leaning it out I get around 10 gph. Leaning out, about 8.5 gph. Fuel is 6.59 / gal now at my hometown airport W78.
