Our Final Day here in Iraq and we drove to Mosul. Mosul was under control from IS!S for many years, as you will see now the city is liberated but the scars are still there from the brutal attacks. We wanted to focus on the good things that were happening in the city, the new start ups, cafes and businesses that were revitalising this city.

We Iraqis were not like that, we were the most developed people, and if you read history you will find that Iraq has ruled the land twice, but because of Iraq's bounties and the huge amount of oil in my country, the greed of many countries to attack my country in various ways, and this thing made us go back instead of progress and prosperity. Thank you for making Iraq A beautiful country and a peaceful country. I love you from Iraq

@@dhaloh Yes . I don't know. Maybe they hate us. Iraq is the first embargo on earth. It is even older than Egypt. It provided everything to humanity. But what in return? They destroy my country and plunder its resources. But there is an appointment for them with the Just One, who is our Lord, your Lord, and the Lord of all things. He will condemn them to long-term torment.

I was there 15 years ago from the "comfort" of a up armored vehicle. Mosul to me looked like the surface of the moon and the looks on the people's faces were indescribable. Your short video will be the extent of any travel I do there. The destruction of the city on the west bank goes well beyond the recent I$ conflict although it definitely did much more. The ancient city of Nineveh.

I'm still in the very early planning stages of a trip, probably autumn next year, but this video raised my optimism quite a bit. I was pretty confident about going to Erbil and visiting the Kurdistan region, and had considered to travel the country a bit, but was more than a bit worried. I still am, but videos like yours are helping to turn fear into respect and add even more curiousity. EDIT: 22:40 Krombacher beer glasses in Erbil, that was probably the most unexpected bit of the video 😅

I remember these alleys all too well, Right bank or Eastern bank was a nightmare, many brothers fell here because ISIS planted a lot of booby traps and the narrow nature of the area made it even harder for us. A lot of the "Safe" checks were written by ICTF personnel, you can't imagine how long and painful of a process it was back then, haven't been to the city since a long time, whenever I see those half destroyed buildings and fallen houses I remember some nasty stuff. Thank you for portraying Mosul in a positive way, its a beautiful city with beautiful ppl who suffered enough and deserve a better future.

@RyH-yx4ys

As a resident of Baghdad I hope this will be useful, the city has different sides, like all places there are bad sides and good sides, generally the city is a bit lacking in the more densely populated areas although that is changing with the new PM. Baghdad is divided into 4 or 5 different areas, Reesafa Karkh Kadhimia and other 2 that I forgot lol, anyways Karkh is better in services and Reesafa has some good places to offer although Karkh is more high-end u can say. Kadhimia is above the others considering it has one of the most important Holy shrines for Shiaa muslims and it gets millions of visitors from different Muslim countries yearly. Then u have the green zone which isn't open for civilians and is a bit too restricted, even military personnel have to go through a bit of a process to get there. In terms of safety and as someone who lived in Baghdad for all my life, in the past 7 or so years Baghdad has improved a lot in safety, like we went from tens of bombings a day to zero a year, you don't expect to get shot on the spot like a war zone, its simply normal, there are places that one should be careful when visiting, poor areas are usually a bit less safe, ig its like the dangerous hoods they have in the US? Although a bit less lawless. Imma simplify it, Electricity, bad but got better and Iraqis have alternative solutions such as local electricity providers which every single Iraqi use. Water, I haven't seen much water problems in the area I live in but don't expect to drink from the water the government provides. Internet, extremely shitty at times unless u get FTTH or 4G+ both of which are spreading fast. Air quality, extremely bad, its a cramped city with less green areas but this too is changing because there are greening campaigns. And damn I wrote a lot lol I hope this was helpful, there are a lot more to add but I guess I added plenty enough. Feel free to ask and I would happily answer when I'm off-duty. Have a nice day.

What is the outcome of land ownership after a total destruction like this? I assume at least some of the people who owned the homes that were destroyed still live in the area. Are there new houses being built outside the city? I can't grasp why "prime" real estate is left to rot?

Mosul is not Kurdish? It's the second largest city in Iraq and most people would identify as Arabs there (although it is diverse). Perhaps you're thinking about some other city in the region that is Kurdish majority?

Sorry, the dark truth is that the people of the city of Mosul were the ones who sold it and handed the city over to the criminal organization. They hated the government, but the organization did the opposite, destroying the city, including it. Finally, may God pardon me. I hope that the city will return more beautiful than before.❤❤❤❤❤❤
