Solo in The World's Murder Capital!(San Salvador)🇸🇻

The capital of El Salvador (San Salvador) became known as the “Murder Capital of the World" due to the very high rates of crime, violence and homicide!! I understand that the official data usually don't lie, but the media headlines definitely want to exaggerate sometimes and this may be unfair for the true reputation of a City or country!!
That's why, I am very curious to see with my own eyes how dangerous San Salvador is for a random tourist (like me) during the day!!
So far, most of the locals told me not to visit the streets around the Center or the big central market, especially with the camera in my hands, because it might attract the bad people's eyes and cause me problems!I respect their concerns but at the same time I believe that even in the most dangerous places you will attract good people as long as you are polite and you trust your own common sense and survival instincts!
Today I am going to walk in the Center of San Salvador, I will visit the Central Market, engage with the locals and as always just go with the flow!!!

I went 7 times to El Salvador from 2008-2013 for work spending weeks at a time. Always a pleasant experience. Salvadorians are nice hard working people. The beaches, volcanos and nightlife are amazing. Like anywhere in the world, US, Europa Asia, just be smart and you will be fine. Love your content Timmy

My mom used to clean the house on Sundays and we would always listen to classic rock, Marco Antonio Solis, Leo Dan, Marc Anthony, etc…. During Semana Santa, little towns in El Salvador gather people from the town and put them on a bus for yearly excursions and they blast random ass bands and love songs on the bus. Good times. I thought my parents liked this music because they heard it in the U.S. but apparently they play it in El Salvador too.

Using the "Murder Capital of the World" for El Salvador as click bait is so disrespectful, specially when that is an untrue statement. Many years ago it was one of the most dangerous places. But by using that title, you are spreading a false narrative of the country in present day, to those that don't watch the whole video. It's actually not a "very dangerous place" as you said in the video. I travel there every single year and have never experienced anything dangerous. I also have family that lives there and everything without any incidents. Just like in any other country, there are communities you want to stay away from and avoid. But I can tell you that I have experienced more crime in the US and none in El Salvador. It's BS what you did here to the reputation of this country who strives to clean up it's image just for "views."

El Salvador: homicide rate 2014-2021 Published by Teresa Romero, Feb 15, 2022 In 2021, there were approximately 18 homicides per 100,000 inhabitants in El Salvador. Since 2015, when it stood at 103, the murder rate has been dropping annually in this Central American country. Currently, El Salvador has a lower homicide rate than countries like Honduras, Mexico and Colombia. I am glad nothing happened to you, be careful. Pupusas are arooud!

no, my friend.. don't compare your country with Mexico, here to begin with, there is a high level of institutionality in all the states, even in those with high indices.. that means as simple as day-to-day is very safe.. 90 percent of the homicides are among criminals... unlike what happens in the common law... also, the homicide rate is much lower than in El Salvador

I went to San Salvador back in 1997, at age 18 in the US Navy, Seabees. It was a short training mission, but a very impacting visit. I bathed with a bucket for 2 mos. The weather there is perfect. Good job!! We can tell at the vibe things are ok, but I mean you said it yourself you are like a Latino over there. Sometimes it has a lot to do with the attitude or just even being a man and acting with confidence. Who knows how it could be on a different day, being another gender, a bit of bad luck and looking more like an easy victim.. There are also so many types of places and neighborhoods than what is in a headline of a newspaper, the diversity is huge. At the same time, I don't know if you saw the video of Seal on Tour where he got a gun pulled on him in Colombia in the wrong neighborhood, most obviously one where drug dealers are. He ended up fine, but it also humbled him a lot and that resonated with me and it's also what we should do: stay humble while showing different angles of places, but not forgetting all other angles that exist too. Some KZbinrs in the space took some risks to get where they are now, but the risk is still real. Be sharp and humble to keep the luck on your side! Although who am I to even say those things, you have more experience ajajja. You will succeed, it looks like you are working hard :)

I always approach a new place with curiosity and open mind- and more importantly- smile 😃😂!! Yea I know about what happened to Seal and Tour- crazy moment and luckily all good and you are right that there is always a risk- no doubt! I have entered some other risky places too- I would not encouraging other to do it - luck plays its role as well 100% too!! And yes we should be careful and maybe entering weird places with a local sometimes!! This video title is very misleading. If you made a time machine and went to 2015 yes San Salvador was unsafe, but it has changed drastically. in 2022 it was one of the safest countries in Latin America.

It's not dangerous until it is. The difference is the level of danger. In "safe" areas, you come across the wrong person you might get screamed at. Or pushed. Or at worst, a fight. In the murder capital of the world, you come across the wrong person, you lose your life. That's the difference.

I really enjoy these videos, but it's hard not to notice that all these KZbinrs who create travel channels go to specific countries not necessarily for their reputation as the most beautiful countries in the world (although that's the case for many of them), but more for the reputation of being the 'most dangerous country in the world.'
