Solo motorcycle camping trip | Day 2 | ASMR | BMW R1200RS

A wet start turned into a crappy day when I dropped my pride and joy. Join me as I head north from the Gower, over the Brecon Beacons and through the absolutely stunning Elan Valley. What did I learn? Trust your instincts.

Don't be too harsh on your self. You're out there giving it a go and that's the main thing. U turns are full of danger when you're learning, we've all binned it. Great video bud. Bike touring can thrill and frustrate in equal doses. But it's always worth it

Thanks for your comment and kind words. I love touring and this was the first time alone, also the first time I've dropped this bike. Annoyingly, I'm an advanced rider with IAM, however tiredness and poor judgement took over with this one.

Thanks for your kind words. I enjoyed making this one. Yeah it was stunning, just too many 20 mph zones so plan carefully. I'm regards to Oulton, great track, been a few times to watch BSB. Off to Donny myself next month and missed Cadwell for the first time in about 6 years last week too. Have a good safe trip.

Shit happens 😞! I really feel for you mate with the dropped bike. I've got a 1250rs and, like you I dropped it doing a really slow turn 😦 and, like you I was totally pissd off! Fortunately for me I have engine bars fitted (definitely some piece of mind), so no damage at all👍. At least you were ok.

Yeah definitely, no real harm done, mainly just dented pride. I have since fitted head protectors, hind sight and all that. Thanks for you comment, ride safe 👍

Been there done that with my RT due to a dodgy shoulder, at least oil wasn't spilling out everywhere for you. I'd get some head protectors or bars on it though. Hindsight is great ain't it. Lovely looking bike, been looking at them, the R and RT again, but probably a GS/GSA when I do pull the trigger. That mattress is just the job ain't it👌👌

Yeah easy done, there was a bit of oil I noticed, but after keeping an eye on it, and subsequently re-torquing and inspecting the heads later, it seems fine. I now have some protective covers, and yeah, hindsight is brilliant! I was running on the thought that 'it won't happen to me'. and yeah, that mattress is really good, better than I thought, really small, lightweight and comfortable.

Just watched your day two camping , wondering is the BM a little heavy on the wrists? , I ride a Kawasaki SX 1000 and at 67 with health issues it’s become a struggle to ride, even for a short length of time, I’ve been looking at tiger 1200 and BM / gs but both little on the tall side,enjoyed the video , smart bit of kit that mattress, I didn’t like the bit you had the unfortunate drop of your bike ,🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Thanks for your comment, glad you enjoyed the video overall. The BM is alot friendlier on the wrists, especially when compared with the SX, you do have a but of a lean on them but you'll notice alot have bar risers, like on mine, which make a difference. I wouldn't say I have ever really felt it too much. I came from a CBR650F, so there was a big difference from that. There are obviously other factors like your height. But I'm just a tad shy of 6ft and I'm fine with it. Hope that helps.
