My back is hurting by just seeing this tent or tent like hammock. And what a lot of work to set it up. But quite impressive when it is done. I still would vote for a small tent and an air bed even if it can not be leveled perfectly. By the way: That is an impressive motorbike.

The hammock campers know that you’ll need insulation under you, even in the summer nights. I don’t think a helmet will cut it. For one of the most expensive, heavy, and time consuming hammocks on the market, it looks pretty cool!
@mihigyver11 ай бұрын
in summer a sleeping bag should be enough.. (+-20°C) and you have one more air layer with that bag under it. but that tend is way to big i mean packeged that bag need to be half the size..

That Monolith is an interesting setup. I have a Hennessey Hammock Expedition model. I've found 4 major drawbacks with a hammock camping on a motorcycle.1: Location; They need trees (or some other structure) of a proper distance apart to hang from. This can severely limit campsite options. 2: Weather; Windy/wet/cold weather can make for a miserable night. While this may be true on any outing, it is especially true with hammocks. Trees can sway continuously (all night) from the wind, and few hammocks are completely enclosed. While tarps can help (as a wind block) that's just another item to carry. Also, wind direction changes. 3: Sag; Throughout the night, hammocks can settle and sag (especially on a windy night). This can leave you bunched up at the bottom of the hammock. Not the sort of sack time you might be after. 4: Insulation; Depending on air temps, your body can lose heat through the bottom of the hammock all night, unless you have a bottom quilt or some other type of insulation, this will rob you of sleep (again, another item to carry).
@ridingdirty2412 Жыл бұрын
Got the same hamock and couldn't have said it better. Fun as hell and a real conversation starter around camp. Just need an additional 6 beers to sleep as well in the hammock. Then there's the falling on your face part when the inevidable midnight piss comes for you.
@richardashburner2097 Жыл бұрын
We have such different experiences, probably because most of my travel is in hot tropics and never in camp grounds. 1. Location; I often camp over jumbled rocks where it is hard to find smooth ground for a tent. 2. Weather; the tent is so much cooler than sweating on the ground and a large tarp over the top protects from almost horizontal rain if you are lucky. I love the swaying from tree movement and use my hammock camping afloat in my dinghy in lumpy water to get more roller-coaster ride. 3. Sag. Yup, need to tighten the cord part way through the night sometimes. 4. Insulation; I have a double layer bottom in my hammock mainly to provide another layer for anopheles? mosquitoes to bite through. You can slide a partially inflated sleeping mat in for insulation on cool dry season nights. Also, unlike the complex hammock in this video a simple one is quicker to pitch and pack than a tent or the complex one shown here. Interesting how we can have such different experiences with the same kit. The downsides for me are that I want to pitch it in different places to the flat ground tent campers like and in a campground you have to use a hammock as a makeshift tent. I suspend a fan in mine and even sleep in it on the verandah at home sometimes. I have a crook back and the diagonal lay Hennessy hammock is more comfortable than sleeping mat or stretcher in a tent. Love it.

This is thr first time.seeing this hammock/tent set up. Really digging it. I have tried many like it. The sierra madre nube´ system, the Lawson Camping hammock, and now trying the Haven Tent. This one is 3 times as expensive....but maybe I will have to try it. Much better as a tent set up than what I have been using so far. As many of my rides here in the usa start where there are plenty of trees. But end in the desert where there are no trees. Maybe I need to start putting out tent/hammock reviews so I can get some free stuff too review. Nice video. Never did one where I never spoke. Intrresting idea.

Well now....I found that to be a very interesting video. I'm a fellow long time hammock camper and found your hammock to be quite interesting. I hiked the Appalachian trail here in the US with a hammock and one of the original Firebox Nanos. I also have a Trangia stove. I'm always amused by the hammock hater comments displaying their obvious ignorance of the experience. I would like to comment on your hammock. I general I really liked it although I was concerned about the inflatable framework that holds it up. I'd be concerned that if it developed a leak you would have no structure to hold it up. I think I'd rather have collapsible poles to provide a framework. I also questioned the need for the lower straps. It seems they are there only to keep the hammock from moving. Unnecessary in my opinion. I loved the spaciousness and really loved the storage area. I also feel you might be better served with a larger separate tarp that attaches to the trees, especially in the rain. With a larger separate tarp you'd be able to stay dry in the rain while dressing and your can take down and pack your hammock while being protected from the rain. The last thing to be taken down is the tarp which is stored separately from your dry items. My comments were not meant to be critical, I was just making observations and possible suggestions. Thanks for sharing..
