A technical giant with the soul of an old black blues player from the south. He touches that guitar like a lover under the moon light and we all are blessed.

There are great musicians, then there are a few musicians a notch about greatness. It has been an absolute pleasure and blessing to have listened to Fourplay since 1991, when I was a freshman in High School!! I have developed my acumen for music, especially jazz because of Lee Ritenour, Bob James, Nathan East Harvey Mason, Larry Carlton and Chuck Loeb. However, Lee Ritenour and Bob Jame's incredible musicianship on the guitar and Keyboard continue to boggle my mind!!!

This was recorded in the late 1990s, and there was no HD back then. It looks like it was recorded on video instead of film. This is probably as good as the picture quality will ever get.

I happy to hear that I'm not the only person who thinks like this. I grew up in the 60's, listened to "oldies" when they were new.....70's where I discovered Steely Dan, Herbie Hancock, Weather Report, Chick Corea, and others. Listened to the music of the 80's and 90's and found some musical themes that were very good, bu, It seems the my musical tastes evolved over the years where other contemporaries stayed in the days gone by.

Addendum: I lived in Traverse City, MI from the early 70's to about 1984. In the late 70's Bob James bought a home in the area. He had a couple of children who attended Interlochen Arts Academy in Interlochen, MI. I saw him three times in concert at Interlochen. Fantastic. At one of the concerts he introduced a new flautist that he had found in the Detroit area - Alexander Zonjic. Look this guy up for some more fantastic jazz flute.

On the intro, Lee was channeling his fast-pick-octave-scales which he made famous in Strawberry Letter No. 23 guitar solo on the Bros Johnson famous Jackie Brown soundtrack from the 70's, a hot disco-funk-R/B-fusion track that everyone loves without knowing what its title is or means or who Shuggie Otis is or was in the day. Anyone know what I am alluding to?
