Anyone interested in the gear featured in this video (Gorka Suits, Ratnik shelters, plash palatkas), checkout www.RussianColdCamo.com They are a US based distributor and offer free shipping in the US. What do you guys think of the no talking videos? I enjoyed making it. For anyone curious about gear in this video, I used a USGI Korean war era canvas bivvy with a Klymit sleeping pad inside of it, the green bag from the MMS sleep system and a woobie/poncho liner. It was a light, but warm and comfortable combination.

Hey Jess! I don't mind the silent ASMR style at all. It puts more on you to set the camera angles up, and editing, but it really pays off. The ratnik seems to be serving you well! I'm looking forward to your review and tutorial once you've had enough time with it.

@TheScoundrel704 жыл бұрын
Endurance Room Bushcraft and Survival , I did have about a 14" section on one that the stitches seemed to wick some droplets through. I put some Seam Grip on both sides of the seam, and that stopped it from happening again. The second one has been maintenance free...knock on wood. 👍

Would you say the Plash has better warmth value as a bivvy or a shelter. I would think the bivvy would be most common use as it contains and packages heat while a shelter looses heat. I just never see anyone using ponchos as a bivvy.
@EnduranceRoom4 жыл бұрын
I really like it as a bivvy or even a blanket in the summer. As a bivvy, paired up with a wool blanket it is quite exceptional. For shelter, the warmest configuration I have used has been 3 ponchos in a 3 sided pyramid configuration. It is warm and spacious and weighs about 8.5lbs. Another option would be to run two of them in an 4 frame that runs lengthwise, so peak height is only going to be about 2 feet. Makes a long bivvy type shelter. Room to sleep and store gear, warm, but not much else. In fair weather, I like running 1 in a plow point with a tripod and keep the back elevated. Gives more room and is easy enough to fill in around perimeter with debris to increase protection. Fire out front, works quite well.
@RobertsBulgaria4 жыл бұрын
I would really like to see more of the Canvas Bivi bag. The problem is with silent videos is that we don't see and not everyone reads the description or pinned reply fully. From what I saw, I thought you had slept out in just your woollen trousers and sweater. I might have missed it, but I didn't see the sleeping mat or the canvas Bivi bag.

I had an insulated Klymit sleeping pad inside my bivvy that worked quite well. Inside the bivvy I used a USGI field bag and a woobie. One of the warmest combinations I have used in awhile. I think having the sleeping pad inside the bivvy was key. I have done many nights with just leaves piled under my ground sheet though.

Hey friend 🙂 Really cool video. I like how you opened and closed the A frame. Does that ratnik have doors on the end? Also did you get a pair of those bdu pants from the Korean War? They look awesome. Rainy days... man I hate being stuck in the shelter. My friend taught my to have a couple pieces of nice wood so you can carve to pass the time. I like silent and talking videos. I think it’s cooler when you talk though and explain things. Just my opinion. Do you like my new channel name? A new project I’m working on. I’m thinking maybe I picked the wrong time of year though😂 Thanks for another awesome video man🙂
@EnduranceRoom4 жыл бұрын
thanks! no doors, it just kind of folds in on the ends to make it mostly sealed. Was quite warm in the A frame setup though. The pants are WW2 Swedish. Really cool bdus if you come across some. Personally, I would keep working on the name. Words are important. Saying things kind of defines them in one way or another. Thats been my experience anyway.

Not talking is fine, unless you are teaching something, most "how to" portions are shot in field where the message is lose or not shown to fallow along . Green or dark color in woodlen setting dosen't film well. Got lucky with the first fire, that bark looked damp. Have you ever carried a pencil sharpener ??
