Solo Overnight Camping trip, sleeping in a hollow dead tree log with rain showers, camp fire cooking spit roast beef, felling a dead tree for a fire reflector.
On a trip to this mixed tree forest I stumbled across a hollow dead poplar tree left from forestry work, I return to to spend the night, using the tree as a natural shelter from the rain showers passing over. I fell a dead pine tree for fire wood and build a fire reflector.
Dinner is Roast beef, spit roasted by the camp fire and breakfast is wild boar & apple sausages.

I don’t know how this popped up on my feed, and I don’t know why I watched it- but I am glad that I did. No chatter, no nerve wracking background music, no obnoxious flashing lights or jump-cuts…just simply a man in his element, doing his thing in nature. I dig this. It’s cool to see and hear the experience of the English woods, even though I’ll never be able to visit them.

Andy, as a photographer, I must say you have really stepped up your photography and videography skills. This was a great video. One of my favorites of yours. It told a great story. Highlights for me was when the candle burned out to the sounds of the night. The chopping of wood to the echo of the woodlands. The popping of the fire as you were telling your story. Nice job. I particularly enjoyed the bit where you were carrying the freshly harvested wood back to the hollow log "without your saw"!!! As ever though, a marvelous and inspiring video. Thank you Andy.

Great video. But there's no way I would have slept in that log and shared my bed with a million creepy crawlies. I'd rather sleep in the rain haha.

I might get one of those hollow trees for back packing. That looks like a 3 man at least.

We can't really do what he is doing in the Canadian Rockies. You'd be fine sleeping in a log, but cooking food in bear country needs to be done very carefully (preferably not at all) and far away from camp.

Another interesting and innovative use of a hollow log as a natural shelter. Removing the slinters at the entrance to the log hollow would reduce the potential of injury. Many thanks for the video. God bless.
