I am muslim and in the esoteric islam I grew up with, we are taught that in the early morning the Divine is MUCH closer to us than any other time of day. There is SUCH a thing as making right or wrong decisions. And that "gut feeling" you are talking about is actually your conscience talking to you. Going to visit family/people that genuinely care about you, love you, and support you is not a bad choice. It's also very nice to have the means financially to do those things and be able to pick up and go whenever you feel like it.
