Only time dual wield is worth considering is that the enhanced stats you get from your other weapon also apply to the weapon you want. Like a +2 physical damage on your left dagger for example also applies to your right dagger. Otherwise it definitely just slows you down.

3:43 i always keep my best boots in my inv for when im about to go for a kill, mostly during invis, where you can put them on without interrupting hide, otherwise i'm always running around without boots

This right here is the smartest! Hopefully it gets changed cause no one wants to not have boots in inventory because of how it interacts....same as potions on a rogue should be hidden. Just like the lockpick stuff. I agree double jump is legit strong! If you know how to use it. And it stops people from getting headshots.

I do see the argument for rapiers and swords but people need to understand that you are then putting yourself in prime range damage for most other classes. With a dagger you are actually closer and usually get hit with a hilt (hidden mechanic)from others which allows you to stabby stabby longer before dying!

@@ooanticsoo4475 kinda disagree with the second point, i survive much more using a rapier but only against fighter/barbarians/clerics because you have more base speed + double jump makes you able to bait their attack, step back/double jump to dodge and hit them back once, repeat and defeat.

I strongly believe Rupture is better than weakpoint for ungeared Rogues. Poison and Rupture stack, they deal flat damage which means it doesn't need to scale off of your current weapon damage. A proper stack of those 2 will result in 40 ish damage. With a Hand Crossbow, you don't even need to get close to apply Rupture/poison. You can just pew, and stealth away. Or, stealth and then pew. Even if you don't have a Hand Crossbow, you can stab 2-3 times and run away. Rupture and poison will be applied - adding that dmg to the dmg from your 2-3 hits and they will either die or be very low and scared. edit: for bonus Hand Crossbow giggles, stealth, headshot someone that is looting, and use the Ambush perk with Rupture and Poison.

I wanted to ask somthing about rogue's perk as Im starting my new rogue char. How does the ambush perk work? do we need to stack add dmg in our gears or it just deals add dmg someway. And also about the back stab and dagger mastery, do we need to have physical dmg bonus stats in our gears for it to work?

on the paper yes, it should work like that. Else they would just have wrote a fix value like you have + 5 damage to your attacks when attacking from behind etc. So when it's a % value it should always be calculated with your total hit damage : if you have a simple 15 damage dagger and use a perks that gives you 10% additionnal physical damage, then your hits will do 1.5 damage bonus, so 16.5 each hits. If you have a dagger with 34 base damage, and all your gear parts gives you a total of +12 physical damage bonus, so a total of 46 physical damage for each hit and using the same perk : then 10% of that new value would be a bonus of 4.6 damage each hit so 50.2 damage per hit. Could check this on lobby's dummies easily tho, but i'm Lazy :S

I guess you didn't understand the part where I said: "Today I'm coming at you with a tutorial on how I play the rogue in Dark and Darker. Quick disclaimer; this is how I'm finding success in the dungeons, and there's probably a lot of stuff I'm doing that's not meta, or whatever, so keep that in mind." Also; nuking the fighter; the obvious biggest threat first and getting them out of the way is in my humble opinion the better play, as the cleric has much more trouble 1v1'ing you. I used to nuke the clerics first before, but found more success in killing the target that could potentially one shot you, rather than the support character. Also, creep is BiS perk after Stealth, but I guess you can go have fun with your DPS rogue when they get nerfed next playtest :)

I've never once beaten a boss in Dark and Darker, but if you're talking about the minibosses like the Wraith or the Champion Skele, then sure, I'll look into it :)

Why not use backstab? Sure it is isn’t a flat increase to dagger damage, but getting behind the target isn’t that difficult. Plus, it works for all weapons, not just daggers.

Good question! I used to roll with it in the previous playtest, but I failed to get a lot of good use out of it; at least I think so: Once you start stabbing someone they're usually quick to turn around anyway, and once facing you; that's what they wanna keep doing, so getting behind them to continue stabbing their back is kinda hard, which means that imo you get more DPS from just simply constantly having the 10% for every single stab. Also in PvE it kinda doesn't work as a solo. Prolly excellent in a duo/trio situation where your team can have face aggro.

I still think you need to wear shoes. In the case of better equipment, you only need a simple surprise attack to kill the opposite back row with 2 knives, but at this time you need to find a way to leave the battlefield and wait for the second entry. I think it is actually It is better to find a warrior or a barbarian to attack with you. If you are playing alone, at least Rapier is a must, otherwise it will be difficult for you to confront those front row, especially the barbarian can use two throwing axes to kill you kill...

Interesting question. I've tried experimenting a little with it, but overall I think you lose net speed in the long run if you just spam it, instead of running the direction you wanted to go anyway. At least that is my perception of it, although I may be wrong :)

Rapiers are pretty good, especially now that their movement speed reduction isn't as big, but last playtest I didn't like 'em much because of the movement speed issue. Which in turn means that I'm more practiced with the daggers, so I'm prolly gonna roll with those for the time being :)

Learning attack patterns and hitting consistent headshots, Getting the first 3 or 4 stabs in at the right moment when they arent ready is extremely important to get the jump on someone before they can fight back, Just keep playing you'll get it!

Never attack players unless you have a decent dagger. The starter dagger is so bad it should be illegal. Your first couple of dungeon runs (when dirt poor) should just be to try to find either a decent dagger or gold enough to buy a decent dagger. When it comes to mobs it's just practice. Once you fight them a lot you start to know their attack patterns and hitboxes better. Just give it some time friend, and ALWAYS BE TURNING OF TORCHES!

@@axticy5157 I also like the Rondell dagger, but I feel like all the daggers are good in their own rights, as long as you know the attack pattern and how to use them efficiently. Stats wise you should always look for high damage and true damage. The dagger I'm using in most of these clips is literally a green 24 dmg stiletto with +1 to all attributes. Nothing fancy.
