Hey Dan,the gun noises are most probably bird scarers(runs off gas) not guns,due to freshly sown fields,the birds will be gobbling up the seed etc. The mic 🎤 is fine. Hope all is well chugging along on the old ragdoll😃

Nice one mate. That’s exactly what I did a few weeks ago. Just grabbed a basha and some kit,got dropped off not too far away from home, and walked across a few fields, then set up, in the corner of a field somewhere in Somerset. It was fantastic. Never made a sound, just listened to the wildlife. I didn’t hear any shotguns, though. All the best.👍🏾🇬🇧⛺️

The field your in there belongs to the lion the house next to the lion was a nice women lived there years ago probably wouldn't mind u being there if u saw and asked.. 😊we lucky around where we live there's loads places but there all busy with dog walkers 😂 need 2 be lucky and find the quite patches... For me, I wear Bluetooth ear buds when watching a video (such as yours) at night or bbc sounds(with timer sleep). I use one ear bud and so I keep "an eye" on the world from other ear. These buds last for hours, the whole night. I fall asleep when then in. even better when using one a time thus twice the life time. Alas not all Bluetooth buds are the same, some I found on the lowest volume setting are quite loud and don't have many volume steps. Keep up the good work dan the oex man 👍

On the farm I worked on Dartmoor, we used Crow Gas Scarers! They are very loud and sound from a distance like shotguns going off! It is the Countryside and very noisy place at times lol

Its not a shotgun its a bird scarer. I'd also say that its worth being carfeul about how the farmers get presented, I used to live on a farm and people had some funny ideas about what they were entitled to. Their dogs would kill our sheep, they'd leave plastic bags.. which animals love to eat and choke on, they'd destroy fenses, leave gates open, animals would get onto the roads. We even had people slaughter animals and steal the meat. You'd be amazed how small the margins are on a farm, one visit going wrong can be like loosing 6 months of wages. It's worth being respectful and carefull. Not saying your guiltly of any of this, you seem like a decent bloke, but I often see folks complaing about not being welcomed onto farms, and there are good reasons for it.

Ps Shotgun blasts are usually timered, next time try and stay nearby in a safe place, and time them. If they send out a blast randomly then walk away ! or RUN ! if they send out blasts every so often in a certain place only then it is a machine with blanks firing off to scare the scavenging birds.

With the gopro having such a wide angle you'd lose a lot of view putting something over the lens. My wind cover covers half the lens if it slips just a few mil. Just need to be handy with a cloth mate
