I know this review was done years ago but I just wanted to tell you how I appreciate you actually COOKING SOMETHING other than boiling water (which every KZbinr seems to do when they do a video field testing / reviewing the solo stove). Have been using the solo titan for years ... great job with the review ... well done ... subscribed!

Just got a pleasant surprise, bought one Titan and got another free. I also bought the 1800 pot as my nod to Mors Kochanski's bush pot. I couldn't bring myself to use aluminum... enter the stainless steel Solo Stove Pot 1800.

If you want it to keep going for longer burn times just add some charcoal briquettes to it and it'll definitely save you on constant fueling feed times when cooking 💪😎🤙

I have the smaller solo Stove. To be honest I would not say that it is forgiving. Unbelievable how fast this thing is burning twigs... But I agree easy to clean.

Nice Video! Do you have the same problem like me, that the pot is always kind of sticky/gluey? In my first try I used wood pellets and in the second try I used some sticks like you did in this video...the sticks were much better. I guess the pellets made the pot much more gluey because of the type of wood. I think in the pellets, a big part of them were pine wood...so you have more resin in it. What do you think about that "problem"? Do have some ideas for me to reduce the gluey black layer on the pot? I also testet some beech fire wood that was very well dryed, but the small sticks I've tested in the second try were even better that this wood. 😅 Thank you in advance! 👋
@livingsurvival
@livingsurvival 4 жыл бұрын
Probably from the pine. I typically will use that to get the fire going but burn other wood as fuel. Won’t hurt anything and probably can get it mostly off with steel wool.

Hey Ben I am fifteen and live in Grand Rapids michigan I am in the process of making my own bugout bag. But anyways thanks for the awesome videos and I was wondering if you could do a video on a small survival kit.

Hey Ben, which stove do you like more and why ,solo titan or silverfire scout. Just wanted to get your opinion. I know someone who is interested in buying a stove.I don't have any experience with solo products. I have the silverfire scout and like mine but he is in between these two gassafier stoves. Thanks,Jeff

Just picked up a clone of the over priced Chinese solo titan. $23 for an exact copy. Wood pellets are imo the absolute best fuel for these stoves. I get 40 minutes or so out of 2 cups of pellets.

You gonna start making videos again? Hope so! Just got a red "new in box" Mesa from a pawn shop for $40 no tax! The new solo "Mesa" is the same size as the Titan, has an adapter for wood pellets and a collapsable stove stand. The Mesa will take the Solo cooking ring for the Titain which is now just $1 from Solo since they dont make the Titan anymore. The 1800 pot you have here is now only $34 from Solo, the Tripod is only $24.

Question: How long does the exterior of the solo stove stay hot for after using it? Just considering if I were in a rush to go somewhere and needed to pack up, I'd hate to sit around waiting for it to cool off in order to even touch it.
@livingsurvival

Not long. A few minutes once you dump the ash. Titanium is quicker but this one cools fast.

After using it was it easy to clean the soot from the outside? ie did it clean up nice or have that burned outside look?
@livingsurvival
@livingsurvival 8 жыл бұрын
anything you burn on a fire will have the burned look unless you scrub them really good when you get home. I generally will use dried leaves, grass or moss to clean the majority of soot off before I put it in the bag. the bags that come with these are nice because you can flip them inside out and just wipe them clean. typically i will scrub my pots with a scotch bright pad when i get home again just to remove the soot. i don't care that they blacken up ;)

I have the Solo 1800 pot Be aware it is almost paper thin by comparison to the the Zebra pots Yes much lighter than the Zebra but they do not cook as well The food sticks and burns and the steel discolors to blue if you are cooking on either a hot gas flame or a hot wood fire So I would strongly suggest a Zebra 14 cm to nest the Solo Stove It will be heavier but far far more robust
@livingsurvival

Solo stove is just as robust as a zebra pot. No issues after many uses.

silver fire is a great stove as well. i feel the solo stove is a bit more efficient and not as fussy. I prefer their pots to the MSR pan that nests with the silver fire. cant go wrong either way though.
