I love your videos. One of my favorite things is to watch videos about people bushcrafting, primitive camping, and especially tarp camping. I have done a lot of solo bike touring and backpacking with tarps. If I am having trouble getting to sleep at night I often think about some tarp camping video like this one to calm down. Last night, I had terrible nightmares. My gf was away working, and I was more than a little worried about some health issues I have. I am a 62 yo guy in Texas, but thinking about some of your tarp adventures put me to sleep like a baby. Thank you, Claire! You do more good than you can possibly know.

True true. A fellow Texan here. 59. And I have committed the 3m x 3m single tarp tent to memory. I like it better. More solid ground and wind coverage. Truely a simple tent and better than 99% of the stuff you see. Incrediable simple and easy to set up. 😊

@@WildBeare Hi Claire, I'm an ex-Royal Navy sailor and, being left-handed, always had trouble learning knots and such, because I was always 'the wrong way round' I found the best way was to just take the teaching as a starting point, figure out how 'my way' worked and build muscle memory by practicing. I still have bits of cordage around and practice, as it's a skill that can degrade and I looove the outdoors and hiking, so it's a skill worth keeping. Great vid and keep on keeping on!

That was a fun looking tarp setup. Looks like a Pup Tent. In the Army we used shelter half pup tents with no floor. Each guy would be issued one half of a tent that would snap together at the top edge. Together they are about the size you had but the front and rear ends had flaps to close up. Always setting them so our heads were uphill. If rain was likely we dug a small trench along each side and rear edge of the canvas then had the trench lead away from the tent and downhill. We learned very quick how to keep dry after waking up laying in a few inches of water a time or two😅. Thanks for sharing!

It was the summer of 1969 I think, a time before Lyme disease had made its way out west. Campbell Lake, Marble Mountains Wilderness area, Northern California, my uncle would restock this lake with rainbow trout via air drop 2 weeks after Boy Scout troop 112 camped there. We camped with plastic tarps. I digress. I just finished binge watching your Tarpology playlist. I learned a lot. I am old now, and have come full circle and am tarp camping again, So thank you for all of your great ideas. I may try a pit or trench in the snow this winter (Wyoming) and tarp cover it. The tarp I am currently running is a Hyperlite Mountain Gear 8.5" X 8.5" it weighs 8.3 ounces with the linelocs cut off and guylines bent on with bowlines. Please forgive me for using Imperial measures. They are human scaled and much preferred. Cheers and the best of good fortune on all of your adventures.

My camping days are long gone but I camp vicariously through your videos🙂. However, I do cook. Onion, garlic, chillies (and ginger if you have some) in first. Fry until turning brown. Add your spices & cook briefly. Chop up that tomato and add. Yog can be added now but you can also stir some in at the end. Cook 'til it thickens. Turn your sliced sirloin in the paste until it loses its raw look. Add your stock and cook to taste. As someone commented earlier, sirloin's usually too fine a cut for a stew but since you want to eat quickly, it's perfect 🙂
