This is an explanation on how you can do common BJJ drills, warm ups, and/or techniques on a heavy bag (or a similar object). The topic of this particular solo drilling sessions is transitions!
Having a good solo drilling program could help to keep you in shape and keep your skills sharpened for your eventual return to class!
The five techniques covered are:
1. Speed Drill for toreando style guard passing
2. Windshield wiping your legs in Knee on Belly
3. Stepping over the head from Knee on Belly
4. Arm Cut transition from Side Control
5. Mounting and dismounting from Side Control
NOTES:
1. Start off slow and get warmed up! That's why I like to begin with the toreando drill. It's generally a safe and easy way to break a sweat. Starting off slow also helps you absorb the smaller details so you are building better habits.
2. Once you're warmed up and you understand the techniques feel free to go as hard and as fast as you want. Remember you "partner" in this instance is an inanimate object so hurt feelings and injuries should not be much of a factor. (Just don't go super reckless and injure yourself!)
3. Trying combining some of these drills together for more complex movements and perhaps a more efficient, fun work out.
Example: Execute Drill 2 then proceed immediately to Drill 3, you will find that they are cohesive movements. STAY TUNED FOR THE TOMORROW'S VIDEO! The transition drills in this video and the next video on PASSING DRILLS can be fused together for a productive drilling session.
