Solo Trip on the Howqua River

Weather was bad for fishing in the saltwater, so I grabbed the Swag, a rod and some gear and set off to the Howqua Hills. It's not easy fishing and filming but managed a few nice fish on film for you to see. I wish I could have filmed them all.
The Howqua River is an amazing water way and while the water level was low due to being at the end of summer, by May June the fishing will be amazing as the large fish move out of Lake Eildon below and head upstream.

No Snakes, was a little cool up until lunchtime, no doubt in the arvo they would have been out. As for Deer, yes mate, heaps of tracks in the soft mud.

Why do lure fishers insist on using the fly fishing term, 'match the hatch'? it has nothing to do with spinning at all. Yeah right, that moth is imitated by a bladed lure. Those may fly and caddis too. Lol.

Gary, why not...it is a term with relevance....If there is a "beef" with using the term, what term would you suggest lure flickers use when "imitating" a localised food source ?

@@jarrodday Yeah it's relevant... to fly fishing. The example you gave was ridiculous. Do you think that moth was traveling under the water at the speed you were retrieving that lure? Do they even swim under water? Of course not. How was showing the moth indicative of you 'matching it' with your lure? The only way to represent it, would be by using a fly, hence matching the hatch. Say represent the available food sources, minnows, trout fry, mud eye nymphs etc.
