The nesher is made by french parts. In a museum in UK is a Nesher. There is a photo of the production plate in the Internet of this Nesher. An aviation engenier Gene Salvey was involved and told the story. Look for Tom Cooper

The Nesher is the copy of the mirage V after the french weapon embargo.

The Nesher/Dagger was NOT made from French parts. They totally embargoed the 50 Mirage Vs that had been built for Israel, and taht the Israelis had designed as an improved Mirage III that they had bought 75 of in the early 60s and used wiht great success. Pres De Gualle had given in to Arab pressure and refused delivery, so Mossad (the Israeli intel guys) just stole the blue prints from Dassault. By the early 70s they had them in production but it was kept very secret. There were no French parts used, as they were all built completely in Israel. The 70 or so the IAF had on hand in the Yom Kippur war of 73 did very well in air combat. I remember at the time (when I was in high school) seeing a pic one inverted in front of some pyramids and was kinda freaked that it was not a III, but had the nose of a V. It came out after the war that they had used them. It was all Israeli built though. There weren't many systems involved, since they had no significant radar, and the engines were just improved versions of the Atars that were in the Mirage III. The French air force got saddled with the 50 MVs that Israel had to give up, even though they did not want them. Since then, the Nesher, called the Dagger, was used by the Argentine AF in the falklands for anti ship and ground attack. The argentine AF still has around 20 or so in service.

I somehow find that theory hard to shallow. That a country such as the state of Israel with limited infrastructure and economic resources could simply embark on building an entire production line of third generation fighter jets out of just thin air. Sure you can steal the blueprints and in reality I doubt that would have had any real use since its not that simple. Mass production of an high performance aircraft like the Mirage requires an entire industry with networks of subcontractors and suppliers. I incline more on the view that these aircraft were in fact originally built in France and then shipped to Israel in crates literally circumventing the UN embargo in yet another Cold War power play. The West simply couldn't afford allowing the state of Israel succumb to the Arab nations and thus they engineered a way to supply Israel with the means to defend themselves while at the time making it look as if they had nothing to do with it. After all neither France or the United States could afford to risk a steady supply of crude oil from the Middle East. That to me sound like a more feasible explanation as to how the Nesher/Kfir fleet came into being.

Yes, this is the commonplace assumption these days- that Dassault secretly shipped the planes as spare parts.

Actually - this is not a copy but the same thing itself as the Mirage V were sent to Israel as "parts" (the embargo was for systems and not parts) and put together in Israel.
