Coming from someone who was there live, Cody vs. Roman was one of the best pieces of pro wrestling that I have ever seen. It was a phenomenal match even before all the Bloodline Rules insanity. The crowd was loud and engaged with every single thing they were doing. It only got louder and more excited with each new person that came out to the ring. By the time it ended, every single person at the Linc (both Cody fans and Roman fans) were on their feet screaming. My little 8 year old cousin was so happy and emotional that he was in tears when Cody won. It was a moment I will never forget.

I'm so glad that CM punk vs drew McIntyre's Hell in a cell match from bad blood in October is on this list after years of vince mcmahon making the Hell in a cell structure just a cage match with a roof less violent and no blood CM punk restored the feeling of the concept glad they used blood in that match see this is how you use blood correctly when the story calls for it.

Will has been smart about where he is on cards, how exposed he is, who he puts over, and who he wins over. He hasn't just been another big name coming in, getting the title, and burning out his momentum within the first few months of his AEW run. Whenever Will wins the title, we'll still be ready for it.

It still surprises me, although I shouldn't be, by the vitriol you get, whenever you do these lists People, it's this man's list. it's his opinion Personally, I would have removed Sting tag match, because I didn't think it was a great match and especially the Osprey vs Okada match, because I've seen way better Okada vs Osprey matches I would definitely put in Osprey vs Darby Probably the best under 15 minute TV match this year that I saw And the other match would be Gunther vs Cody at Crown Jewel The Best I saw that reminded me of an 70's or 80's wrestling match Aside from that Great List People need to calm down Lol

A drawback to the 3 hour, 5 match, PLE schedule has been a decline in main event level bouts. I watch both AEW and WWE, and I really can't think of many MotY bouts in WWE this year that didn't happen on one of the Big 4. Crowds have been great, shows have been fun, and feuds have been well built up, but a lot of major title matches have either fallen short due to the impossibility to suspend disbelief and think someone was going to lose their title, an inability to live up to expectation, or in AJ Styles vs Cody Rhodes case; both. Even otherwise fantastic bouts like Gunther vs Sami are a bit overshadowed by a previous, arguably better, bout between the two from 2023. The only other bouts worth considering are heavily gimmicked ones that are more fun than technically awesome or story heavy (I.e. Iron Survivor, Green v Michin Dumpster Match, or War Games), a few TV bouts that over delivered (the Hayes vs Andrade series, Ricochet vs Ilja for KOTR on Raw, Bronson v Braun), but still didn't outshine some of AEW's output on free television, and a handful of NXT bouts like Briggs vs Femi vs Dijak that brand loyalists will remember. If it salves any wounds, I'm also a die hard NJPW fan and there really wasn't much coming out of that company either, which is arguably more damning considering NJPW is a work rate promotion.

AEW definitely has the better in-ring talent and matches this year. Yet they’re still a cold product. Tony Khan definitely needs to focus a little more on stories with emotion and not just banger matches

@@Deans-jm3ufAEW just does a better job at paying off feuds and such on ppv/ple with great matches that are given time. WWE and their short 5 match cards at a ppv still never give every match time. 10-12 matches which AEW does is too much and exhausting and the 5 match cards WWE does are too short especially when you charge fans in the arena $250 for nose bleeds. 7-8 matches is a good sweet spot

I disagreed with Cody vs Roman WM40 match as number 1. It was overbooked. Rollins looked like a clumsy fool when trying to save Cody. Cody already wrestled Roman on Night 1 in a tag team match. When they wrestled again on Night 2, it didn't feel special.

Agreed. It wasn't bad, but their TV match was better, and the streamers being stuck in the rafters distracted from it at times. I'd put Ospreay vs Takeshita from Revolution in there instead. I might be bias though because I was there, but it was still a banger match on re-watch.
