Bro rerereqatching the beginning really gives me nonstop chills because like watching people react to it for the first time and realizing that they got a bunch of stuff in store for them to learn all the way through, just shows the difference in how im feeling seeing THOSE titans in the very beginning. I cannot stress enough how much emotions and adrenaline running through my veins ALL AT ONCE. I wanna scream, cry, break things idk im just so hyped and now that Im physically and emotionally connected to the show now, it's making me feel that sensation again by watching reactions.

I watched this after season 1 came out and that was when the series had the biggest gap between seasons, it was 4 years of waiting for season 2 and we had years to speculate so it's cool that some of your questions will or won't be answered soon and that you're asking the exact same things that we waited years for.

Just a few things you missed and were confused about this season. Eren's reluctance to fight Annie. This is why skipping the "Distress" OVA is not good. Because it shows Eren is attached to everyone else he trained with. Naturally if you put together that 1) he lost his family 2) severely traumatized 3) as explained by officers durng their training that they are broken down and built back up as soldiers. Taking inti account their ages: 9 when Eren saved Mikasa 10 when he lost his family 11 when they were with Armin's grandpa as refugees and lost him when he was sent out to die in Maria to decrease food scarcity and 12 when he enlisted in the cadets. Up to now 15. He is an orphaned child broken down and his cadet group has now become synonymous to family. So having to fght her like this is like loosing another piece of family that he is desperately holding on to. To stay sane. The other aspect is he is a Titan and was put on trial and his life is still on the line as he was supposed to be handed over to the military police. Knowing Annie is a titan, and seeing how everyone was ready to condemn her without really knowing if anyone is forcing her etc horrified him because to him they are his family and they are turning on each other and could also do this to him as well. This is why he asks "How can you fight?" As in how can you turn on her so easily? obviously reinforcing his fear: if I mess up or they perceive me as anything not good, this can happen to me too... This is why Eren is not ok then and would indeed struggle to turn. On Jean: He was not inspired by Eren. He was sadly motivated by Marco's death. His Moto is "no one is dying for me." because so far it seems this way. Jean constantly guilt trips Eren for everyone's death, esp Maco's when in reality they are soldiers and thugh harsh it is a reality that they could die as per their occupation. He uses Eren as a channel to his grief through resentment by guilting him. This will have repercussions on Eren. And Jean will continue to do it and its something to keep in mind and be aware of. Here is a theme that is tird to all of this that is relevant until the ed of the entire series esp to Eren: in Armin's words: Like Erwin, no one will accomplish anything unless they are willing to sacrifice something, that something is their humanity. Like Annie. Like Erwin. And THIS is what they are pressuring Eren to do at 15 yeas of age after all he has been through and already lost. His friends..* Meaning: They are pressuring him to throw away his humanity his care for his family the cadets to beat Annie. This will have repercussions.

Love that you picked up AoT. You should check out the OVA's too. They're like standalone short stories from the series that add some world building between Seasons 1 and 2. Also some extra character development for a couple characters.

2:43:06 in the past, it is known knights sometimes had two horses. They travelled on one horse, whereas before battle - they switched to a spare horse. They wanted their horse to be in full power for battle, basically. Horse can get tired from running a person on it. Here, there's probably similar thing: To run at/from titans, they need MAX from their horses. This might tire a horse quite quickly. Unfortunately, anime doesn't go into this detail in any scene. And I'm not sure why it's Armin exactly though, maybe he's like a squire to keep someone else's horse, like for Levy or else.

There's an important after credit scene you should watch if you haven't already. Great show! Looking forward to seeing your reaction to season 2. There are 3 OVA that you should watch before season 2 (They are specials with some being canon and others optional). The first OVA is called "No Regrets" and it is a 2 part special that is canon to the main story and should be watched before season 2 episode 1. The second OVA is called "Ilise's Notebook" and should be watched after season 2 episode 1 followed by the rest of season 2. Thanks for the 4 hour video!
