Hannes looking relieved during his death makes sense when you consider how much he despised himself for not confronting the titan that killed Eren’s mom when he had the chance. Now that he died fighting it he probably felt relief that he made the right choice back then by saving Eren and Mikasa instead.

Why are titans attacking Reiner? It's the same as titans attacking Eren or Ymir. Those titans know the diff between regular titans and titan-shifters and want to eat the human because REASONS. 16:01 And that's the reason there was a character you saw all through s1, hanging out with the rest of the gang, who was never named. To make this scene, and the ilse OVA, special. 19:02 the assorted subtitles on this line are all over the place. You saw the version I saw - and all I could tell was that she said something Other versions have the correct text, "Welcome Back." And THAT makes the scene mindblowing. Peak AOT. 1:28:45 Eren doesn't understand "monkey" because nobody inside the walls has seen a monkey or knows what one is.

They said it before in season 1 about why titans go after titan shifters. Apparently it’s because they’re basically bigger humans, so more for the titans to eat. So thats why the titans were attacking Reiner / The Armored Titan. Also, make sure to watch the end credits sequence for season 3 episode 12/ episode 49. Its really cool 😉

The Ymir-Christa-Connie centered episodes has good many breadcrumbs of Reiner's identity. - him consoling Connie & being on the backfoot reg Connie's mom titan - implies he knows the secret of the identity of titans ( that they're humans ) - with Ymir - he figured out Ymir, clear... but it's a red herring... (literally & figuratively damn it lmao). Reiner understood 'herring' , something found only in salt water bodies, meaning Ymir figured out Reiner as well. - then the obv giveaway with Bertholdt's 'warrior' reference, which confirmed Bertholdt's secret identity as well. (provided one remembers Annie's words)

back in the day i also binge watched this season and i honestly think it's the best way to consume it because the amount of insane cliffhangers in it would've killed me if i'd have had to wait for each episode weekly, i'm sure of that. i also do a whole binge whenever i rewatch as well, it's really just the type of non-stop action & non-stop reveal season where stopping is not really an option, it's so damn enjoyable even on a rewatch. considering how between s1 and s2 there were 4 freaking years a lot of people thought back in those days that the studio made a misstep in waiting for so long and kinda letting the hype die down, but as soon as the season dropped it was just so strong and solid that even the 4 year gap couldn't touch it. it's honestly one of my fav second seasons to a show and i thoroughly enjoyed your reaction to it!

Fun fact: Sasha was supposed to die in episode 2 of this season,but when Isayama's editor knew of this and saw the raw version of the chapterhe cried (allegedly) and asked him not to kill her off and Isayama agreed,this somewhat affected the story,in the anime is not as noticeable since Sasha is still around and delivers an important document to Hange (Reiner and Bert's background investigation) but in the manga she just disappears after this chapter and reappears several chapters later,makes sense because there was nothing planned for her since she was supposed to die. Also Ymir has been showing up and having conversations since season 1,she wasnt "just introduced on season 2",for some reason the majority of viewers completely forget about her despite her getting screen time with Sadha and historia and also calling out Armin his squad got wiped (and Eren died),the detail is we just get to know her name on this season,but shes always been there.

Now seeing it subbed through this again; the differences in what's said in the dub versus the various sub translations shift perspectives to an insane degreee.
