@@Henry-Doss Same thing here, with In Rainbows especially. I hated it so much when I first heard it, and now I have no idea how I could have had such a reaction. Some of my fav songs are on this album. Nude, Weird Fishes, and RECKONER?! How could I have not LOVED reckoner? Maybe my top song. It's so weird how radiohead albums always hit like that.

Ya hafta admit that Radiohead offers the best music for repeat listening. They are do adventurous, creative, and enmeshed in recording so much audacious nuance that they deliver music that never gets old. It’s very rare that popular music can be so iconic, not in a nostalgic way, but in a way that concerns its details.

fun fact about house of cards, those little bow sounds aren’t actually violins, jonny greenwood (the lead guitarist and multi-instrumentalist of radiohead) just used a coin on his guitar part to make it sound like a violin! it’s a very cool technique, as cool as this reaction. in rainbows is probably my favorite radiohead album and your reaction summed up how i felt first time i listened to this album.

I love this album. Some fun facts about it: - "Nude" was worked on for about a decade. It was first recorded during the sessions for OK Computer, and the band kept tinkering with it because they weren't satisfied. The final version was rearranged around a bassline written by Colin Greenwood, the bassist. - The intro to "Nude" is a specific stem in the outro reversed. - The cheers heard in "15 Step" are the cheers of children from the Matrix Music School & Arts Centre in Oxford. The band wanted the kids to clap along to the drums, but the unconventional 5/4 time signature was difficult for them to follow. - Videotape is the band playing a trick on you. The true downbeat is actually half a beat after the supposed downbeat. It's more noticable in the 2006 live performance of the song. - On "Reckoner", the album title is sang by the backing vocals at the runtime's golden ratio (~1.618 or 61.8%).

the videotape one is very on the fence for me, the bonnaroo 06 recording definitely has that syncopation, but they ultimately took away the idea in the recording or at least made it not matter as much by giving no rhythmic context that confirms or denies that it is there. very interesting talking point, but as for the recorded album version i would say that there's no way to confirm if it's there or not, darn it radiohead!

Omg I loved your reaction! There’s still so many albums from theirs to check out. Before OK Computer, The Bends really helped launch their career commercially after the success of Creep. It has some of their biggest hits and is 90’s in the best way! Some of my personal favorites are on that project and it is super solid. After OK Computer they delved head first into electronic music with Kid A, it’s pretty experimental and generally more ambient and meditative than OKC. It was pretty divisive at the time of release because of how much of a departure it was from their previous sounds, but is now pretty much universally praised and respected as one of their best. Finally their most previous record A Moon Shaped Pool is their most cinematic, somber, and relaxed projects. If you loved the strings on In Rainbows, this album is full of them! Johnny Greenwood, one of the guitarists of the band, has worked on film scores and is one of the strongest members of the group personally. He’s super innovative and versatile with his talent among many instruments. Sorry for the essay I just love this band hehe. Thank you for the great video and experiencing this beautiful music with us! ❤😋

I hate doing this where right after a reactor reacts to an album I immediately recommend another but I think to have a good understanding of Radiohead as a band you HAVE to listen to "Kid A" which was the album that was released right after OK computer and is a mind blowing left turn for the band and music. Its much more experimental and at times a little harder to get into at first listen but its regarded as a masterpiece right alongside In rainbows and OK computer as their 3 masterpieces. You mention at 33:20, that your favourite part is that section in 'reckoner' when Thom Yorke sings the words 'In rainbows'... Interesting to note that if you apply the 'golden ratio'/Fibonacci sequence (which is a mathematical equation, that, once applied to art can highlight the most aesthetically beautiful section of that piece). from google: 'The golden ratio (also known as the golden section, and golden mean) is the ratio 1:0.62. Use it to divide lines and rectangles in an aesthetically pleasing way' . Well when you apply the golden section calculation to the album 'in rainbows', the exact point of the ratio is that part of the song in reckoner where the words 'in rainbows' is sang! Look it up, absolutely crazy! and apparently according to the band, completely an accident.

Thanks for putting this out - I had the same reaction, kind of blew my mind the quality of this album. For me "OK Computer" will always be my favorite, I think it is the band's highest achievement. BUT, "In Rainbows" is them at their very best, most luscious cohesive zone talented best. They are really neck and neck. Their 3rd 'GREAT' album, as in historical legendary greatest all time list albums, is "Kid A" - however that is their like Modern Art work masterpiece. It is a sonic experimental journey - it threw me off so much back in the day, I took time away from the band as I was expecting "OK Computer Part 2" and it is such a massive turn. Then "In Rainbows" came out a few years later and I fell back into Radiohead world, and then let "Kid A" sink in, it takes several listens for a lot of the songs to hit (but when they do they're with you for life) and to see it as this complete work of art. To hear the more Rock version of the band with a TON of great songs, "The Bends" is epic, and for the more lush violin vibe, "A Moon Shape Pool" the last most recent 9th album is great. And last but not least - to me the best moment and highest point of anything to do with Radiohead - which is saying a lot for their career - is to watch "In Rainbows: Live from the Basement." It is the stuff of legends, and a way to see the band, just the 5 guys, not only recreate the sonic landscapes live, no tricks, just insane musicianship and talent, but it sounds even better. Really connect to what the band is all about seeing that - whether as a reaction or for your own enjoyment, it's one of the best hours you can ever spend in life. Really enjoyed your reactions, keep doing it, excellent work man. Peace//

I always love seeing someone discover Radiohead. I wish I could go back to the days where I was just like you, stunned at how mind-blowing they are. It's just another level. On your outro you really captured exactly why we all love them. It's the care and joy they have for music. See them live if you can! Just remember, after 15-20 years following the band, every song is so detailed and complex that I still discover new things and the songs don't always click immediately. After a few listens though, they just become overwhelming. Good luck in your Radiohead journey! Also, like others said, you should do videos of both From the Basement sessions. Kid A will be a big challenge. It was after OK Computer and they hated becoming a huge band because they thought they were becoming a money-making brand, and not artists. They were depressed and lost. So they abandoned the radio friendly vibes and went very experimental. At first its crazy weird but after a while you see they went to a place that no other band has ever been, it's almost like a new planet of music. To escape the money-making corporate machine, they took a huge risk and became the best band in the world.

You should listen to A Moon Shaped Pool sometime. Maybe not next but it is still an amazing Radiohead album. Edit: Also eventually Kid A, however I must warn you. Kid A is definitely strange to say the least. Edit 2: Also i forgot to say W vid as always

There's a disk 2 btw. People tend to forget about that. It's much shorter but there's some great songs on there.

I got a lot of shit to comment lmao but they put this album out in 2007 for free on the internet as a pay what you want type thing which was never done before, hella cool that the people who make the best music just do it for the people

Your reaction is one of the best I've ever seen to In Rainbows, great watch man! I highly recommend their latest album A Moon Shaped Pool from 2016 based on your love of strings, it's a sadder album than In Rainbows but it has a very cinematic quality to the songs.

Loved your reactions to this album dude. “An immense amount of love” = sums up what Radiohead and Thom Yorke put into everything they do. No time spent listening to Radiohead is time wasted. One of the greatest bands of all time.

Loved your unbridled enthusiasm for what is more of a mellow album at first listen but you clued in to the momentum that this can have once you’re locked into it! I’m late to the party but I highly suggest checking out the dissect podcast season which does like a whole college course on the album and breaks down each song lyrically, musically, and whatever other adverb you want. One of my fav albums! Glad you enjoyed it!

I've heard I don't know how many thousands of songs, but the way Yorke goes from a hum back to saying 'reckoner' in the bridge is one of the cleanest and most orgasmic transitions I've ever heard. not to mention it's also one of the most impressive things I've ever heard from a singer, like how fucking hard is it to do something like that holy shit
