Your format for reaction should be the standard in this format. No overreaction, insightful comments during the song, letting the audience experience the song long enough for people to want to listen to the album in their own time. The Community Favourite pop up is a nice touch. You have a nice community. I loved this album, Nude is my favorite song of all time. "No matter what happens now, you shouldn't be afraid. Because I know today has been the most perfect day I've ever seen" I can't even begin to explain how insanely impactful that one line is. The hope and the sadness all wrapped up in one that Radiohead does so well. And even in a track that a lot of people write off initially because of the odd drum pattern. These guys are so incredibly good at what they do
@brbrownfieldxvx10 ай бұрын
I sort of interpret these lyrics as a realisation and reasurance to a loved one that your suicide is no longer possible after a single day of true happiness. Its this experience that prevents you from ending it all.
@BT40510 ай бұрын
@@brbrownfieldxvx I've kinda always though of it as the narrator has finally accepted that they're going to end it all (or just accepted their death in another way that doesn't necessarily have to be suicide). And now that they've accepted what's happening, they're somehow more fulfilled and at peace recognizing that the world really is a beautiful place now that they've let go of a need to go on. And that they are truly happy with their decision. Which is way more heartbreaking and I wouldn't be surprised if that's how it's intended. Or they could just be lying to make the listener feel better lol

Some trivia: - This was the band's seventh album and the first released after their contract with EMI expired. It was released as pay-what-you-want, where you could download it for free or pay whatever was right for you. - My theory for 15 Step is that the title is a reference to the plant Antiaris toxicaria, the poison of which is so deadly a victim can only take seven steps uphill and eight downhill before dying. What's 7+8? 15 Steps. - The band recorded the cheers of music school students for 15 Step. They wanted the kids to clap but the unconventional 5/4 time signature was too hard for the students to follow. - Nude was worked on for around a decade, starting during the OK Computer sessions. It was originally called "Big Ideas" by fans, as it was unnamed for many years. The final version was built atop the bassline written by Colin Greenwood. The intro is the outro reversed. - In Reckoner, background vocals can be heard at 2:49 singing "In Rainbows", which happens to be 61.8% of the runtime; the golden ratio. - Videotape is tricking you; the true downbeat is syncopated. The piano is playing half a beat before the downbeat.

It’s a song that makes me move mad in ecstasy and completely consumes my body and soul to express my feelings that no words could ever do. I see the colors from every sound in my eyes and I see a beautiful rainbow. Then as soon as it reaches its peak, I ascend to a plane of existence that reaches far beyond the human eyes and the stars across the universe. Second favorite album of all time. So full of emotion, beautiful production, and a warmth that could make you cry yourself to sleep. So much of Radiohead's best on this one too, Nude/Weird Fishes/Jigsaw Falling Into Place are all up there for me. The atmosphere is so immersive, and it's one of the cleanest sounding records I've ever heard. The way the sounds *feel* is magical. Jigsaw Falling Into Place got me to start playing guitar. The way it builds and builds is incredibly cathartic. The drunken stumble becomes a stride, as the song's lyrical and musical elements grow more and more in clarity. It's a song that really fit's the title. More specifically, I love the feeling of yearning across the whole album. It's like you're being pulled in every direction. Thoughts of love and death intertwine in a dreamlike fashion, and every moment of confusion is reflected by one of awareness. It has a quality of loneliness in it as well, which Radiohead always seems to lean into. The atmosphere is isolating, and the lyrics are often abstract and yet incredibly personal. I think the ultimate thesis of In Rainbows is "euphoria". Only topped by wowaka's "Unhappy Refrain" for me. In Rainbows is like the perfect reflection of that album to me. Where Unhappy Refrain is harsh, cold, and intense, In Rainbows is soft, warm, and gentle. Both of them are electronic/rock blends, but go about it in completely different ways. In Rainbows is deeply human, while Unhappy Refrain is starkly alien. Two sides of a coin, in a way. I'd strongly recommend Unhappy Refrain to anyone who hasn't heard it, but it is hard to get your hands on unfortunately. There are some decent uploads of it on KZbin as the most accessible option (just not the most popular video, it has the songs out of order and is low quality), but I have my own CD. I'd happily send you the rips if you're interested. Sorry for the tangent, keep up the good work path!! Love your videos

Your point about Reckoner being Thom trying to talk you down a ledge is so accurate. The percussion sounds cacophonous at the beginning to signal disarray and chaos, but then in comes Thom and his delicate guitar. And gradually as the song progresses, the song gets more and more soft, until it releases again. I don't know what that is suppose signify, maybe Thom making us see that the world is chaotic and you shouldn't beat yourself up for being chaotic yourself, thus talking you off from the ledge. Or it could also mean Thom coming with you as you jump the ledge, but that's bonkers after reading it again. The term "reckoner" itself could also mean "reasoner", or vaguely "someone who talks for the sake of reasoning".

Really enjoyed your reaction to what is , for me, and so many others a masterpiece. There is a live performance From The Basement where they perform the albumn , it again shows just how brilliant this band is when they combine their talents . Often overlooked is the rock steady percussion laid down by Phil Selway , at its most obvious in Weird Fishes when the three guitars are unresolved in harmony spiralling around the beat he delivers , with Colin’s bass completing the space . ❤

idk who said not to pay too much attention to lyrics because your interpretations are def adding to the songs for me

I really appreciate the amount of effort and thought that went into your reaction. You speak very poetically. I’m glad Radiohead could bring this album to you.

If you haven't already, listen to season 11 of the podcast "Dissect." The creator goes episode by episode breaking down each song in this album and it's an amazing listen!

This is my favorite radiohead album, and it never fails to make me cry at least once for every listen. Im glad I got to finally experience this album with you

Radiohead + Path = double goated. Always love your reaction and analysis. I appreciate the mix of enjoyment and enthusiasm with thoughtfulness and consideration. Is there going to be a home for full unedited reactions in the future? You should check out their "live from the basement" set for this album, even just on your own time. I'd argue some songs surpass the original and the production quality is superb. I'd love to see Hail to the Thief, but I'm sure you're going to spread your wings and go elsewhere for a while musically. Happy path best path. Keep taking care of yourself whatever that means content wise. We'll be here.

It's been a long time since I listened to this album, which by the way was my favorite album by my favorite band more than a decade ago and let me thank you for giving it your time and reminding me of some of the reasons why I fell in love with it. I really liked the way you analyze, feel and live each song genuinely without pretense. I'm not one to subscribe to channels about reactions but you already have a new subscriber. Greetings from Peru!

House Of Cards is super duper underrated! not an easy choice by any means, but it has to be my favorite song from this stunning album. by the way, I think you'd really enjoy "A Moon Shaped Pool"! which also contains some of my favorite Radiohead tracks ever like "Decks Dark" and "Present Tense". thank you for the very entertaining video, and keep it up! 🙌

Such an amazing album, so many 'moments' in it that are otherwordly and welcoming while still having a lingering feeling of being afraid that you have no solid ground to stand on. Your 'react' content is so good that it seems the only appropriate way to truly convey/give the artist respect. I don't know, all the work and time you put into these show, and not to disparage others, but the times i've seen 'thats good' over an album of this quality and have that be the 'reaction'...well, i'm thankful you've found a way that even when lost for words in the moment, you can give more to it. Amazing album, and amazing 'reaction'.

watching someone react to such a personally special album to myself and see it in such a similar light, as well as having shared reactions to the same parts is such a joy. This reaction literally made me feel closer to the world, seeing your reactions in such a raw and honest way was just so cool... sometimes ive felt no one I know in my personal life is as totally grasped by a work of art like this as I feel. really appreciate this video and u

I met a friend online this past June and he introduced me to Radiohead via the song Nude. I've never heard anything like it and I cried unexpectedly. My tears just flowed right out. It is likely my favorite song I've ever heard ever since, and I am ever so grateful to him. Thanks for the reaction : ) edit: he also introduced me to you, just 2 days ago on this video's release. he knew i'd love it.

I really loved the format of your video and review. Most people react and don’t say much so as not to speak over the song, which I get, but the way you assess what you were feeling in retrospect with a VO is a really good idea. I like the visual too of having the lyrics up for the viewer also and the inclusion of people’s opinions, thoughts and deep connections to the music being played. Really cool.

This is a 10/10 album for me. I'm not even like a huge Radiohead fan, maybe enjoying a handful of songs from the rest of their discography. This is their standalone album for me where every song is wonderful and listening to the album front to back is best done multiple times.
@spand904310 ай бұрын
definitely my favourite album of theirs, but there are MANY other good radiohead songs you can listen to. They have a fantastic discography and it is always easy to find new amazing things to listen to. Some suggestions (and a few current favs of mine) in case you haven't listened to them: -subterranean homesick alien -decks dark -2+2=5 -down is the new up -pyramid song

Your explanation of Bodysnatchers is actually perfect. Keep up the good stuff, path. (Also the reason the time signature in Faust Arp was confusing to you is because it is alternating constantly between 4/4, 2/4, 7/4 and probably some others idek)

Don't know if you've ever listened to his stuff but King Krule has an amazing discography of what I'd describe as dark, indie, and even slightly jazz. His albums The Ooz, 6 Feet Beneath the Moon, and more recently Space Heavy are an absolute journey.
