I live in the USA and this is one of the few rail trips that I really really want to take which wouldn't be utilitarian (not going to see family or friends, but traveling just to take the trip itself). It looks like it more than lives up to everything I've heard about it. The scenery = WOW. Interesting that I don't think of this rail line running parallel to the highways, which it looks like it did through some of Nevada/California. I'd love to drive out west as well, but obviously when you're driving you've got your eyes on the road and you can't appreciate the view like you would from a train. Glad to see that this rail trip seems to live up to everything I've heard about it... can't wait to do it. Thanks! Oh and P.S.: next time you see a Monte Cristo sandwich, get one. If you liked the french toast, you'd love it. It's like a grilled ham and cheese sandwich made on french toast. I put syrup on it and cut it up and eat it with a fork like french toast. Terrifically underrated lunch item.

I have lived in or near 3 cities on your route and it was fascinating to watch your reaction. Yes, I also have the “WHAT IS THIS NOISE shaky shaky” reaction. Amtrak cars are old and noisy and the railbed is bumpy because freight trains use the same tracks and take precedence, causing huge delays. But I still love rail travel and wish the US would invest in rail infrastructure like the rest of the world. Thank you for your excellent content!

6:04 prior to 2020, this train had up to ten cars (maybe even more) including the baggage car. Four sleepers (one with crew accommodations, usually with a downstairs door at one end) and three coaches. The superliners are starting to show their age and fewer are worthy of carrying passengers, as they're all from 1978-1996 but overhauls are underway. The California Zephyr route is an amazing one. I've filmed the train during my many visits to Colorado.

Holy moly, you came back to the US?! Nani?! At least this time you got to see the Rockies and the Colorado plateau! You know how I first heard about Salt Lake City and Denver? It was from a movie where a guy wanted to destroy Denver... Using a train! Also, next time any of us are at that Emeryville station, Emeryville Public Market across the street with pretty good food.

Hell is real!!! We can not hide our sins from God. Jesus loves you and He died for your sins. Repent and put your faith in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and Jesus will forgive you of your sins. Once you die, it will be too late to repent, do it today!! Mark 1:15 For the Kingdom of God is at hand, repent and believe in the gospel...

Jesus, $1050 usd for the trip. The US needs to start subsidizing train rides like it does for flights. Or just stop subsidizing airlines…

Amtrak sleeper accommodations are basically sold at double-occupancy rates. You pay a fee for the room plus a coach fare per occupant, so adding a second person would only cost something like ~$150-200 more. Also, if you're in a sleeper, the cost covers lounge access at major stations and all meals on the train, including an alcoholic beverage at dinner should you choose to partake.

I think in this case it's more about the journey, seeing how it takes almost 3 days to complete it. A direct flight will be cheaper and faster.

Amtrak is government run... This nation is too large for passenger trains. It could actually use faster aircraft. A first-class airline ticket from Chicago to LA is at least $950 and doesn't include as many meals or sleeper accommodations.

We do not need to be subsidizing train rides lol

Airlines are NOT subsidized, except for unprofitable metro areas.

Oh, no, ketchup on eggs! 😧😆😆I'm glad you could enjoy the landscape of our beautiful western mountains and deserts. Sunsets truly are sublime. Hopefully we will see my neighbor San Francisco next. The Alcatraz Ferry would be unique to the channel.

Welcome to my home area. I know you value your anomality, so we were not able to meet. Glad to see you enjoyed trains and the scenery of the Great American West. Thanks for visiting.

I think he liked this trip a good deal more than his earlier visit. America is truly an impressive nation! I hope that one day he drops the anonymity, so we can know him in person. 🤝

Thanks for the nice video, I enjoyed it. When I was in USA, I didnt think of using trains at all, we had a roadtrip planned with rented car as we had many stops for natioanl parks there. But seeing this video it is also very appealing, I would like to try it too. I hope you can visit Europe too.

The road trip was a better idea if you have a choice.

My grandfather used to ride a train like this in his younger days. Looks as beautiful as he described!
