@@TopSecretAsiant Yeah, I agree with that. I actually thought the price would have been amazing for one person, if the train had lived up to the standard we are usually shown in these videos. Of course, other places in the world this compartment would have been three times as expensive and three times as filthy. Japan has spoiled us with the cleanliness of their public transportation.

It's amazing how you always find good food at transportation facilities in Japan plus many choices in vending machines. Here in the U.S. you generally get chain restaurants at the airports, same with the larger train stations, and usually nothing besides the possible vending machine with snacks. It's sad that you could take any Greyhound bus and would find a better restroom than the one on that train.

Probably comes from the occupation years post war, a lot of US foods became to be very popular with the people there, largely because of the abundance of them Vs the more "national" food choices which obviously took some time to get back to being able to provide enough for everyone. If you have a look on Nobuta's channel he showcased a lovely little restaurant/café that specialised in the post war comfort foods (as well as others, but from what I understand it's the food the owner grew up with). It's something that I would love to have a taste of myself, I really appreciate when you see different food cultures coming together.
