Don't ever give up on making music dude, I work in a primary career and still find the time to record and play in over 10 bands and a slew of collaborations/ vocal and instrumental appearances-- doesn't matter if it's in a popular genre or limelight, if it's what you enjoy listening to and playing (especially if it's Metal), just do it. Also regarding physics in part, check out the international band i'm in called Decoherence, signed to Sentient Ruin Laboratories record label.
