This chemistry video tutorial provides a basic introduction into solubility curves. It contains plenty of examples and practice problems on calculating the solubility of an ionic compound at a given temperature and volume. It explains how to determine the temperature at which two substances have the same solubility in addition to determining if a solution is saturated, unsaturated, or supersaturated under certain conditions.

Thanks for the vid! This helped me a lot during the quarantine because I learn through interaction with other people and seeing examples, but my chem teacher gave us a PowerPoint and a worksheet, so I was really confused. Thanks again!

Hi, with Q7 (d), I multiplied the solubility of 50 g of KNO3 in 100 mL at 30 degrees C, by 0.25 (1/4) in order to get it to the same value of Volume. This resulted in a solubility of 12.5 g in 25 mL. This meant that given that the Conc. of 15 g of KNO3 in 25 mL was greater than (>) the solubility of 12.5 g of KNO3 in 25 mL. Thus C > S, therefore arriving at the same answer of super saturated. Now given that in the video you calculated to make both conc. and solubility in terms of 100 mL, which makes finding the answer on the solubility curve more of a possiblity. I am wondering if my method is acceptable if I was simply comparing conc. to solubility and not looking at the solubility curve? Thank you, Papa

For the last question, u found the answer for per 200mL. Would the answer still be correct if I calculated for per 100mL, with respect to the graph? So like u got 125g per 200mL I got 62.5g per 100mL. Your question did not specify in what quantity of mass the answer was required for.

At 2:29, he did 100 divided by 40, which is equal to 2.5. Kind of like fractions, he then proceeded to do 250 divided by 2.5 which is equal to 100. It was just a way of finding x.. Another way you could have done it is proportionally: You do 250 times 40, which is equal to 10,000.. Then you can do 10,000 divided by 100. Basically you multiply, then divide. 250 times 40 divided by 100 is 100. I'm not a math expert, but I hope this helped
