This chemistry video tutorial explains the concept behind henry's law and how it relates to the partial pressure of a gas above a solution and the gas solubility of that solution. It contains plenty of examples, notes, formulas / equations, and practice problems for you to work with all calculations and units included. It also shows you how to calculate or determine the gas solubility if you're given the henry's law constant or proportionality factor. This video also helps you to determine which gas is more soluble, a polar gas or a nonpolar gas.

Professor Organic Chemistry Tutor, thank you for explaining the concepts behind the classical Henry's Law and its powerful impact/relationship to Partial Pressure in AP/General Chemistry. From the practice problems, we see that as the pressure increases, the solubility also increases. As the volume decreases, the pressure and solubility increases assuming that a force is applied to the gas particles. This is an error free video/lecture on KZbin TV with the Organic Chemistry Tutor.

In the beginning I would define the term "solubility" as the concentration, wich is the number of gas particles per volume (e.g. in the unit mol per liter) in the liquid in a state of equilibrium (equal gas flow into and out of the liquid). This is a very simple notion everybody can understand.

Why is it a factor of 3
@ayecarumba5164
@ayecarumba5164 4 жыл бұрын
Because solubility and pressure are directly proportional, thus if the pressure increases by a factor of 3, it increases the solubility by a factor of 3.
