Rather you meant to or not, you also taught me what a VLSM was. Great tutorial, thank you for working through it.

ezpz ... figured it out in less than a minute and was pleased you did the same method I taught myself going through the official CCNA cert guide ;P. great video! Read some of the comments ... yeah he could've started at the 192.168.5.0 and used 4 more /28 blocks 0-15, 16-31, 32-47,48-63 , but as far as explaining why E was the correct choice and why it shouldn't overlap already existing addresses... it was explained in a very clear easy to understand manner ;P.

The question is asking to find a suitable subnet that meets the host requirements and doesn't conflict with other subnets. It's not asking to configure an ip on the hosts themselves. All of the answer choices are subnet numbers for this reason. He's aware that you can't use the subnet number or subnet broadcast as a valid host ip, he even points it out at 4:48 when figuring out which mask to use.

@kevrev7 he didn't say that was an actual address for a host he said thats the address space for the subnet so 224 is correct

A good try. But I have a questions: 1. Why is this example not starting from the Subnet ID? 2. You checked from 64 to 128. Then you went to the end of the network and started checking there. Is that a good method. If you had gone further from 128, you would have found out the network to place at the missing place.

Would have been a lot easier if you just figured out the host and incrimented by 16. Then from there, the network which starts at 224 isnt being used is the correct answer.

I find the exam questions totally unfair, as a newbie there is no way anyone can learn all those acronyms, I understand quite a lot of the various tasks but why or why not put them down in plain English?? I have dropped the course simply for this, why waste my time for 6 months? It really is pathetic and needs looking at, you Americans use acronyms all the time, we dont in Britain, at least make this fair for everyone.
