Also can I say I love your no-nonsense approach with very little waffling and faffing with long intros. It’s what I needed when I was losing patience and becoming intolerant having watching hundreds of other videos. I am your biggest fan .

Girl! You saved me a ton of time. I had removed the plate to clean it. Then, bam, ! The machine was messing up, and all because of that little groove thing. I would of never in a million years ever figured that out! You are my hero!!

Great series, thank you! 6:20 - This 'spring' washer is called a CUPPED WASHER FOR BOBBIN WINDER. The Featherweight Shop online sells one for $6, so pricey washer. It is concave or cupped so it gives you some springy tension. Same type is used on the extension bed or wherever you have some tension needed. The scooped out cup side must face a certain way, usually toward the machine.

I have a 221K made in 1964 that my mother gave me in the 1960s. I used it like crazy till the 1990s, but it's been in its green and white box since then. I'm taking it in for full service tomorrow and can't wait to get use it again. So glad to discover your channel and look forward to more of your videos on the beloved Featherweight! Cheers from Oklahoma!

Thank you thank you. I’m so glad I found this tutorial as I was struggling to figure out why my thread was breaking and the sound of the machine wasn’t right. I had cleaned my machine after a I was home from a retreat, with many hours of sewing. The bobbin was the issue. Did everything per your instructions. Works like a charm again. 😀

Something as small as bobbin thread going counterclockwise made all the difference in getting my bobbin back into my machine. I've had this machine for years and had a brain hick up. Thanks for the tips.

Excellent presentation and information. So happy I found you. Just purchased 221 fm friend, ordered a "tune-up" kit, but like your tutorials so much I'll watch these repeatedly. Q. Where did you receive your training/knowledge? I'm a bit techy (not tacky, lol) and would love to know half as much as you. Thank you for sharing your time and talent. If you work with Singer 301s, I'd love to see those tutorials as well. Thank you again and have blessed and happy days. Pray for our nation.

Hi! great video, I like how descriptive you’re while giving instructions. My issue is when trying to sew with my featherweight the thread keeps coming out of the needle. It’s threaded correctly, I changed the needle and I followed your instructions on the throat plate and bobbin case as you recommended, but the issue continues to persist. Any ideas as to what I should try. The machine was serviced professionally 5 years ago and has been stored in its case since then without being used. There were no fibers in the throat plate it was clean. Any recommendations as to what I can try. The thread is also new.

thank you for the tips, ESPECIALLY # 3. I had no idea, and it didn't even occur to me that I was threading it incorrectly.

Trying to troubleshoot my needle not lining up to center. Needle is inserted correctly with flat side to left. Also, the presser bar is lined up correctly with the little lines. Needle sits very close to left side of hole in needle plate. It also rubs a bit on the left side of original presser foot. Help!! Any ideas what else could cause this misalignment. I’ve tried four different brands of needles with same result. I have a 1949 featherweight 221

Wheel was locked up so I took apart the bobbin case and cleaned a small piece of thread iff then reassemble. The wheel is freed up now but the needle won’t go up and down. What do I do?
@SewingDocAcademy Жыл бұрын
It sounds like the clutch on the handwheel came loose or the washer underneath the silver knob has slipped out of place. You'll want to remove the silver knob on the handwheel and reseat the washer and put the knob back on properly.

having stitch plate problem. Stitch finger does NOT rotate freely.. so we can not align it up. Can you help? how can we reach you.
@SewingDocAcademy Жыл бұрын
We have a full-service program that covers the Singer Featherweight and 301 models, which would help you fix this issue and give you human help if it's more involved. It sounds like there is a thread jam in the hook or something jamming it, which is not unheard of and usually resolved with maintenance. All of those things are covered in our program. It's usually $149, but right now it's $79 for LIFETIME access. Here's the link: www.sewingdocacademy.com/fw-sales

I always get loops stitches under my sewing machine feather weight 301 what's the problem
@kathrynmurphy81472 ай бұрын
Can I ask (comment no 3lol). When the bobbin is in the case and you pull the thread, should it run freely or should there be some resistance to the pull ?
@Mpompadour Жыл бұрын
Another thing is to loosen the silver screw on the flywheel when filling a bobbin so the stitching arm does not go up and down. That screw disengages it. When finished winding the bobbin, retighten the silver screw on the flywheel so the stitching arm reengages, replace the bobbin, draw up the thread through the throatplate and resume sewing.

Are you sure the needle is in correctly? That's the number one reason for this issue. The flat side of the needle should be facing left. Let me know and I can help if needed.

That sounds like a short or issue with the lead cord, which is the power cord/foot pedal. They are pretty easy to replace, here's my video on how to do that: kzbin.info/www/bejne/g3bXpoWQrLyli5I
