sir, what is your reason of choosing the i1 loop instead of 4A loop when voltage source is turned off? I did that, but got a different answer.

We cannot directly apply Mesh Analysis to Loop 1 (the one with the current source) because Mesh Analysis relies on Kirchhoff's Voltage Law (KVL), and a current source does not have a defined voltage across it unless it is part of a supermesh. The voltage across the current source is unknown, so we can't write a KVL equation for this loop in isolation. From chatgpt, But worth 👌

Sir how can I know that a source is dependent or independent?

Thank you But if we have a dependent current source rather than voltage source will this way be suitable ?

it took me a minute to see where you went wrong. which is quite subtle....Your biggest mistake was writing the mesh current io" to be the same current that the dependent source uses also called io". They are not the same. Your equations are stating that current io" is the same current as your mesh current which is the current going through the 5ohm resistor but that is not accurate since you need to account for the current of the 4A going through the 5ohm resistor. The correct way is to use KCL. for example you may choose the node at the bottom between 5 ohm , 4 ohm and 4A source. Assume current in 5ohms is called io' and current in 4ohms is called io''. Therefore io''+io'=4 OR io' = 4-io''. then you can apply this to your equations (of course you should relabel your mesh current from io'' to io') and youll get the correct answer and then applying superposition the total current for io = -0.4706A or 470.6mA
