Great tips, Kramer. I'll add one here. We were experiencing the "All 4 AMS lights flashing" issue in the middle of a print. Tried the coupler disconnect/wiggle-wiggle as well as the communication cables wiggle-wiggle which didn't solve our issue. After that, we powered the printer down using the power switch on the back of the printer near the power cable. When we powered the printer back on, we noticed the AMS lights were back to white and the printer recognized and unfinished print. We answered "yes" to continue and it picked up where it left off! We did notice a blob of plastic left behind on the actual print which we promptly plucked off to clear the path to continue. Hopefully it finishes and this tip helps others as well.

i had this issue once and here's some detailed answer i got from Bambu Support: In general, the failure to pull back the filament is due to too much resistance. It is possible that the PTFE tube of somewhere is bent too much, creating a tension that prevents the filament from being pulled back. Usually, releasing the coupler on the back of the printer and trying again can pull the filament back. This is because this action actually pulls the filament back a bit from the tool head, so that when the tension is released, the filament could easily be pulled back. 1. You can straighten the PTFE tube first, and trying to print the following bracket model to prevent the PTFE tube connected to the tool head from being too bent: Bambu X1 PTFE Straightener Bracket AMS Error Fix by OurAngryBadger | Bambu Lab PTFE Bracket by Mol Bambu Lab X1 - top glass riser by khrillian | (removing the printer's glass top cover also helps reduce tube bending) Also ensure that the PTFE tubes of other parts are not too bent. If the PTFE tubes have been used for a long time, it is recommended to replace them with new PTFE tubes.

@giangquangvinh6487 Жыл бұрын
2. Sometimes the coupler may cause excessive tension, so you can replace it with a spare one and try again. 3. In addition, you can also try to clean the debris inside the filament hub. Excessive debris accumulation inside the filament hub can also cause excessive resistance. Dismantling and cleaning the AMS filaments hub | Bambu Lab Wiki 4. If the problem of failing to pull back the filament occurs only in one slot, swap feeders from different slots to see if the problem will transfer to another slot. @techwithkramer

There are several fixes on makerworld for this, just search for it. Do NOT lubricate the motor, that would be a very bad idea and the motor is not the issue, it’s the friction. The tubes size is perfect, it’s just the friction in between, so make it’s as straight and use some of the mods to help.

Solved my issue so fast with my brand-new machine! this should be on the official Bambu help page! I had broken filament in the AMS (old brittle filament my fault). I wonder if they could design a feature where it would do something like open the tubes/path, disable the stepper motors, heat the hotend etc and you could manually push the broken filament through with another filament to be purged at the hotend? Save users from opening it all up.

Update to this. Believe it or not, it's most likely a tiny filament in the tube. My trick now is that I have filament strings to push into the system and push to find the stuck part. It's been very easy doing this now. Also, if you're not printing, I recommend taking the filament out of the ams tube and have it rest inside the unit until ready, just in case starting it up snaps the fialment inside the system again on you.

@techwithkramer 7 күн бұрын
This is very common. Try to take a piece of filament and push it manually from the ams to the printhead. Best is to take off the often tubes on the arms and the print head. If this works, put the professional tube back on the printhead, heat the nozzle and see if you can get it to extrude. If that works, then it’s the AMS. Open it and take the ptfe tube out of the position you tried to print from, turn it and put it opposite inside after checking it to make sure it doesn’t have a hole. Let me know how it goes.

Maybe you can help me with my particular issue! After printing something out of slot 2 (only happens with this slot, but with different spools, always the same problem) and after it rewound the filament, the slot shows "empty" and the light is out. I have to pull out the filament manually just a bit, so the AMS recognizes the filament and starts the process of registering a "new" filament in the slot. I have to do that every time I used slot 2, which is annoying. Do you have any idea where that could come from? It feeds just fine, but after retraction it always is displayed as empty

@@techwithkramer So far nothing is helping my problem. I uninstalled Bambu from my PC and start over, like the day I recieved X1C. Shut down PC and did the same with X1C, and after all that I turned the pinter on ON. The first was the printer - I removed the filaments, restore printer to factory settings and I inserted all 4 filaments, not the PLA-SUPPORT filament! Turned back the PC and installed BS and went thru the settings..... But as soon I open the file I could not print, it behaved exactly like before! So I installed brand new BS on a PC and I was able to print again! It was a puzzle, but when I wanted to print more items from that folder, on my PC that is a desktop running Intel i9...., it behaved like my laptop, I could not print at all! This is behaving like a bug in the software or some other undocumented function....???? Does Bambu send to them, from my PC info about BS? Since it worked once on my desktop, but the next print could not happen, just like the laptop! I'm gonna remove not just the BS program but also all the info in the registry and folder where BS was installed at. I'll do this on my laptop as well, and I'll reset the printer one more time - I hope this will work. Is there a phone number one can call Bambu to get help? My ams internal hub slot 2 is not working. I can manually feed filament through the 3 other slots but not slot 2.. Cannot see any stuck filament. Any suggestions for this issue?
@techwithkramer
@techwithkramer Жыл бұрын
Sometimes you can’t see the pice, you need to take all the ptfe tubes off and push a piece of filament through to make sure it’s empty. If that’s not it, then it is the first stage.

I have the rewind issue as well, but I don't even need to wiggle. Just disconnect the coupler, and press retry. That is a work-around, but it kind of makes the filament switching of the AMS useless: I need to baby sit every filament change. So much for "automatic".

i have the first issue on doing multi color prints in a couple of the slots. I can disconnect the ptf tube and the filament isn't stuck reconnect it and it will rewind. Then the next time is goes back to the slot is may do it again. Have replaced tubing check for broken filament and cant figure it out.

You can only change the color if the printer is idle. While it’s printing, you can not change anything. Was the printer idle when you tried this?
@AndrewAHayes
@AndrewAHayes Жыл бұрын
@@techwithkramer Yes the printer was idle, I fixed it by turning off the printer and restarting Bambu Studio and it then allowed me to make changes to the colours, I guess it was just a glitch somewhere.

Have the fourth issue, all lights. Safe to say that this printer is a lemon or the connections. Problem is that when it works, I’m addicted to it 😂. I should have gotten a non ams version or a prusa………

It’s not perfect but it’s still the best option out there. Open a ticket with Bambulab and they will take care of you. Yes, it might take a few days. Maybe one day, they will have a 24/7 hotline like Prusa, but don’t forget you pay for this with the printer price. A good move would be if they would offer 24/7 support as a paid option… so yes, it’s not the fastest support, but at the end they make sure your machine will be back up and running. And then, nothing else gets even close….

It’s tough, this is still a DIY hobby and there are so many people starting now that they probably have a load of tickets. They try to find the cause. I had an AMS that was constantly loosing connection, took about 6 tickets and luckily I have several machines so together with support we could figure out that it was the actual control board inside the printer. Sending an AMS back in to them for fixing is expensive and unless they know it’s the AMS when it could also be a cable, the hub or the printer, I don’t blame them trying to make sure what is broken first. But I feel your pain.

No,don’t throw it out - just pull some off and cut it where it’s no longer brittle. So far I only had 1 spool (out of hundreds) that was so bad that I returned it, it was basically a spool full of little pieces. But every other spool just had like 2-3 windings brittle.

I had a problem with silk PLA filament the jammed in the collector where the four PTFE tubes connect. The filament stripped and clogged the feeder in the collector and I could not clear it. I could not tear the collector down enough to clear the clog. Therefore the AMS is completely ruined. I will never run silk PLA through an AMS again. Also, not related to the AMS, but I will not run TPU on my X1. It is not stiff enough to feed through the hotend properly.

I am using Silks all the time (overture) and have no issues at all. Yes, TPU isn’t easy, luckily I don’t have a use for it, so I only tried it - it worked but it’s not as easy as other material to handle.
