Mathematics, as it is taught in the majority of Western schools, is so uninteresting and tedious because it is isolated from meaningful context. Mathematics, like words, to most humans, are not inherently interesting; mere symbols representing arbitrary values. Explain that deep and recurring mathematical patterns pervade the natural, physical world, and that the most precise way yet know to the human species of understanding the true nature of the external world is through the study of mathematics, namely differential equations and calculus, then I think it would be quite unsurprising to see an increase in the interest exhibited by students concerning the study of mathematics, and also any subject, as most subjects as they are taught are subject to this isolated and meaningless method of presentation.

you very beautifully put that together. I do very much agree with you. Thank you
