Solving Logarithmic Equations (5 Examples)

In this video we discuss how to solve logarithmic equations in 5 different examples. We discuss using the expanding and condensing properties of logs as well as how to change from the logarithmic form to the exponential form to help in solving these equations.

I like your method of raising the entire log by its base. I’ve never seen this method before but it’s very simple.

I use it in a lot in my tutoring and suggest to students that it is easier (but they can use the idea of how the log equation corresponds to the exponential equation if they prefer), just as Mario did in this video. When time is available, I like to compare it to how we'd solve other equations by doing opposite operations. I'll list out x+2=64, x*2=64, x^2=64, and 2^x=64 and suggest that since we solve all the others with opposites why not solve 2^x = 64 (and opposite equations like the log equation in his video) with opposites too? I find a lot of agreement between Mario and myself from the videos I've watched of his so far, so, if someone wants to learn via KZbin, he is for now the KZbinr I would suggest after watching various videos from several math educational KZbinrs.

Hey, I'm not the only tutor/teacher watching his videos. 😅 I mean, I know this stuff pretty solidly. But I like to hear other people explaining it anyway so I can see what I like and don't like from their explanations. Mario so far has been the best tutor on KZbin I've heard.
