Solving Plastic -- one bottle at a time in the Northern Philippines

There is a solution to plastic pollution. In the Northern Philippines, inspired by our ancestral traditions where there is no concept of "waste" we've developed Vision Ecobricks-- a no-politician, no-machine, no-money way to go zero-waste... again.

Brilliant. However, when the PEP plastic bottle is exposed to light it degrades (also high temperatures). So at some time in the future all the bottle-ends that are exposed to light will fall apart releasing the trash in the bottles back into the environment. In my humble opinion, it would be better to ensure that all of the plastic bottle is covered with mortar, out of the light, so it remains stable and whole / entire for a much longer period of time (possibly 450 years). The bottles will also last longer if the walls in which they are encapsulated are in the shade (not direct sunlight) - for example with an overhanging roof or creeper plant growing over it, or ratan mat. I hope that is a helpful and constructive thought (pardon the pun :) ). I also think it may be a good idea to cover with mortar all the exposed plastic bottle ends that are in your walls now. Of course glass does not have this problem.

Vous avez raison, votre idée est bonne et corrective pour avoir un mur et aussi anti-feu ! Mais je préfère remplir les bouteilles avec du sable ou de la terre ou terre + petit cailloux, etc ... avec le sable on peut fabriquer un grand réservoir qu'on remplir avec le sable ou la terre qui sera versé par gravitation dans les bouteilles ! Après les bouteilles seront encapsulées à la main ou une petit machine encapsuleuse "home made" !

I want to get involved with this beautiful idea and bring it to the United States, bring it home to Massachusetts! Why stop with the country? The cities are full of people and community service usually involves picking up trash, why not include the best recycling I've seen yet, inspired by this video and these amazing people! God is good ALL THE TIME, and we can learn and grow together in every community world wide, creating beauty from what we consider useless! This is amazing and I'm so proud of these creative and selfless people. Here's to spreading this idea and making the world a better place for generations to come! Great job everybody!
