Why does the greater/less than turn into a greater/less than or equal sign in some instances like in 15:50

i just used gauth math for it and they used less/greater than and equals too for that question im guessing he just made a mistake maybe.

I get the answers right however i always get the positive and negative wrong (e.g if i get 4 the answer turns out to be -4)
