I am moving to a new house that I just bought. And this video is exactly what I needed. Organization will be a huge part of my new set up. Thank you for designing these, sharing the links and showing the final product. I will indeed use this desing and mount it on the walls of my new setup

I might be knocking together a filament and tape rack based on this for my hackerspace soon. Very elegant solution.

Really like the holes and labels on the PVC for the wire storage!

I only have 2 spools of small wire so I will never need this - but it's still a fantastic idea!!! What great ingenuity!!!

You can also use gravity rollers instead of PVC pipes to reduce the friction/resistance between the spool and the fixed PVC pipes

This is exactly what I was looking for. Great job - thank you!

I love this! I'm going to have to do something similar at work for all the wires we have. Great job dude!

Yeah, it's the same problem in professional environments too. Why does everyone store them with a pipe down the center? It just causes so many problems!

Some plastic filaments used for 3d printing will absorb water so will benefit from being in sealed dry box .

do you think for more humid areas, that a plexiglass or acrylic "lid" that can fold down over the front with some desiccant pockets would keep it dry?
@bytesizedengineering2 жыл бұрын
I think that's a great idea!

May have to build one of these...

I love the idea! Have you thought about adding French cleats?
@bytesizedengineering2 жыл бұрын
That would totally be possible. I just don't use French cleats in my shop.

I’ll be building my own interpretation of your project this weekend , I am a car audio guy and have 20-12 gauge wire spools and 1/0 to 8 gauge wire spools on a dowel system that is annoying to change out , this system simplifies changing out wire spools

Consider placing a measuring tape on the front of the electrical wiring one, if not used for the wires when cutting them, you'll always have a measuring device close when you have both hands full...

Do you have a 3D file for this? I don’t have the tools you have in order to create this for my work station at home
@dustblowingman Жыл бұрын
With your newly build CO2 laser cutter you could now make these yourself out of some 10mm or thicker acrylic or MDF sheets. Have you got the files for this in an SVG or vector file ?

Question. When you pull the wire through the hole, does it tend to try and pull the spool from side to side as the wire unravels from one side to the next?
@bytesizedengineering2 жыл бұрын
Not really. I have the spools pretty close together and there isn't a lot of unused space for them to shift.

Looks like the 3D filament rack has notch in the front for an additional support that you aren't using. Was that put into the design in case it was need and you found out it wasn't or did you not have the materials needed on hand and needed to get the project done?
@bytesizedengineering2 жыл бұрын
I was wondering if anybody would spot that! You are exactly right. There is a notch there for an additional strip of MDF. This could also be useful for labels or a hole to feed filament through.
