reading through all the comments comparing this story to what it feels like having depression (or at least can feel like since everybody's journey is different) makes the way the story is told make so much more sense. I was wondering why the creator would acknowledge a tweet with a picture of a sunny day saying "idk what you mean everything is okay here" but now it makes a lot of sense because that is exactly what it feels like when you talk to people about your depression and they don't get it. All this "but your life is good, you don't have a reason to be sad etc." is the same as telling the world around you that the sun has vanished and them responding with "but it's right there", even though you can see with your own eyes that it's gone. The problem with discussing my depression with other people who haven't experienced something like this before is often making them understand that these feelings are real and that they are there. When I am in a bad place, then this IS the reality that I'm living in and that won't change based on whether another person thinks it's justified or not. This was the reality TSV was living in, even if their audience wasn't.

I do find it an interesting take but the problem with taking it so literally is that these things are clearly actually happening to these people, including but not limited to physical injuries. I think depression is more of the theme and not the reality of the world, from a writing standpoint. It makes way more sense that something is actually happening. Maybe he's actually in another dimension or something. At the start of this we even see news broadcasts talking about how the sun has disappeared. Unless we're to assume all of it is in the main character's head and therefore not JUST depression as the issue but something like Schizophrenia or worse. Depression doesn't make physical manifestations appear. So to me the real question is how do people get teleported to this dimension? And why does it take a very specific reaction to the water to leave? _shrugs_ This series is weird dude. Lol

@@Microwaveonatrain7 Prior to this, at a much younger age, the creator collabed with their friends to make an arg called Cave of Shadows. Basically an online web show on youtube that hints of being involved with a real life victim within the show and the people involved trying to rebel/ being kidnapped. There were some fun elements like live streams or an actual downloadable game being used, but it overall was just really bad as it was plagued with being incredibly try hardy since the arg was heavily inspired by Marble Hornets/Meatsleep, the creators badly wanting to be covered since one of the passwords was literally 2 popular arg/horror youtubers names at the time, the pacing was really bad with hints/storylines being spread out so far or being too many in a short time frame. And the biggest issue was the storyline involving real people. It was just really poor taste as it involved hinting about sa with one of the victims and even the storyline in itself wasn't that great to begin with. They eventually matured and just left the arg, but this time the creator actually learnt from their mistakes and made a much better one.

I feel as though the ending to TSV with him getting to see the sun alongside his ability to communicate with those outside of the ARG points to the ARG taking place in a realm in-between reality and something much worse (the world of the ARG) - like a limbo of sorts, where only personal growth allows you to "Remember" what it is like to live and only that allows you to bypass into reality. The entire "Remember" portion of the phone is almost like a window into the reality where the sun hasn't vanished - our reality - the reality in which there the characters in the ARG "Remember" what it was like to live. That photo of his campsite in particular is what started to lead me to this conclusion, as well as the only other showing of the sun in the series being the person at the waaaaaay beginning in out world. There has to be a link between them, else the immersion would have been broken, right? Why else would the TSV Team risk breaking the immersion of the project and have this be one of the only sunny things outside of the "Remember" section and the ending? There has to be a link there. I also wonder if those who are doomed to become worse versions of themselves are lost to the black water? This definitely happened to Danyon, someone who never improved on themselves and doubled down on being a pretty nasty dude, but it almost happened to TSV and he managed to recover from that part of himself, which birthed the way to take down whatever entity lurks in the ships. The way I see that is TSV embracing everything about himself, even the dark parts, and moving forward together with it is the thing that changed him from the inside out (literally), which allowed him to see the sun once again. Either way, stunning video and I love this ARG. Truly a stunning piece of work!
@captainjoy8976 Жыл бұрын
I agree that there has to be a link to our reality! My first thought was that TSV somehow got into states of mind that allowed them to take those pictures and store them to know what they are fighting for. The black water might represent the bad in ourselves infecting our thoughts and overall being and "spoiling" us, bringing the worst out of us. Which does really play into the theory of the toxic relationships - good willing people around you will make you shine. Toxicity on the other hand drowns you in darkness.

also didn't the camp's medic say that when you're blood starts rejecting the black water you only have so long to live so what if your body starts rejecting the black water when you start "waking up" and then in the no sun world you die because you went back to reality and are no longer in the so sun world

A theory I have is that all the tweets and interactions came from that alternate world, and then when TSV and his phone came to the real world again, the data sync'd up with the servers which lead to all those tweets being uploaded. If that were true, that means that even by the time we saw the first tweet the whole story was already done with and TSV is in our world, observing how we're reacting to the story unfolding The person who sent TSV a photo of the sun could be someone who escaped before the story was set OR someone who sent a photo from their own Remember album

So, after watching this whole video, I have a theory: I think TSV didn't just visit the regular world during his death, he's been visiting the regular world THIS WHOLE TIME. He's the only character who constantly suffers long blackouts throughout the story. Like at first, where he thought he was only silent for a week but it had actually been a month. It doesn't happen to any other character. My theory is that he gets transported to the regular world during these blackouts. This theory, if true, would explain a lot of things. It explains one of the biggest mysteries in the series, namely *_Where the photos and videos in the "Remember" album are coming from and why TSV is the only one who has such an album in which new photos and videos of the regular world appear out of nowhere._* It's TSV himself who's capturing these photos in the regular world, trying to make his dark world self remember. It's why the picture of the tree in the regular world was of the same place where TSV was at in the Dark World, because he woke up at that exact place in the regular world when he blacked out. If we consider this to the true, it means that TSV's mind is split between *Regular World TSV* and *Dark World TSV.* Regular World TSV has access to all his memories, that's why he's able to make an album for Dark World TSV to see. Dark World TSV, on the other hand, has amnesia, and can't remember his adventures in the regular world.

in short he does have the key on going to the regular world. death wasn't the answer the characters needed to get away from the dark. they just need a trigger to open the gate for everyone to be free. "remember" I guessing he realized he would forget and he saved those photos and videos and set a file on "remember" whenever he blacks out. and I also guessing even when his in the regular world he forgets. so each time he jumps between world he forgets each both visits. that's just mess up if you think about it. because that would drive someone crazy by thinking "what's reality anymore? am I awake or asleep? am I in a coma?" you know?
@adoniosorfaneiros74338 ай бұрын
well the dark world could have been a blackout in the real world but he might be aware of it in the real world and have memories of the dark world but the dark world limits his memories or he is schizofrenic or smth and his trying to save himself by making the album remember and in the end his bravary is the key to break the loop and stay in the real world or smth

Honestly the take that the world itself isn't actually real but a shared mental space of sorts Where those going through negative relationships or major grief makes so much sense The reason TSV goes months with time being missed is because during that time he isn't being held up by his issues and he is happy Those photos labelled "remember" are the happy him telling himself to not forget about the joy that he truly has And the reason why as he falls and "dies' and then gets sent to the world with sun is because he is truly happy and content protecting those he cares about and settling his grief with danyon Furthermore the Black water being compatible with some but not others is because those it isn't compatible with are those who aren't "toxic" by nature We saw all the people who the black water resonated with were manipulative like danyon and the death threat person Meanwhile it was rejected by those who were victims or innocent

I feel like the whole story has to do with depression. The themes of toxic relationships, not being able to trust people. Dark water could perhaps represent substance abuse since the way the people who drank it acts very off after consumption. WTP could be support groups who claim to help people overcome it but in the end just abuses and accept the drugs as a must or a need. The REMEMBER album could be from the times when TSV was happier. The ending could mean that TSV gained up all the courage to take actual steps to free himself fighting against the dark water and ending the toxic relationship with danyon. He was able to see the light at the end of the tunnel and was able to become happier again. or idk maybe im drinking too much dark water.

So, I have depression and the themes in TSV really remind me of my journey so far: 1) The sudden change when it really hits you that things are different now (falling into depression and gaining clarity that, yes, this is not "just a rough patch", or a sudden fall into depression due to a traumatic event). 2) Just trying to survive, keeping afloat without a real goal. 3) Not knowing what to do, falling for people who see you are vulnerable and latching onto them, getting dependent on them even though they are horrible to you. Or getting rid of people in your life that destroy you little by little. (Nat keeping their mother locked up and then killing her, bc it had to be done but it hurt) 4) Questioning EVERYTHING you do. Was that too harsh? Was it my fault? Will things ever change? 5) First attempts at trying to change things but failing. Realizing just how long this has been going on already. (TSV losing time between posts but getting first "remember" picture to show that there still is hope left, having experienced first little victories) 6) A plethora of people talking down on you, seeming to know "what's best" for you. 7) The whole journey just...changing you. Inside and out. Looking different from how you used to look, whether that's good or bad. (The broken arm, the black veins) 8) Wanting to just give in an let depression take your body, eat it whole. (TSV being tired of not knowing if the next is going to be his last and getting taken by The People) 9) Getting some help, even if it isn't good in the long run/ doesn't suit what you want later on. (The board games and company vs the harsch treatment of Nat and wanting to escape after a while) 10) and then the end: Making a conscious decision to change things, taking steps out of it bc you know you will die if you don't - and you also die if you do - so why not take a chance towards a better future? But without that definitive step, nothing will change, you'll be caught in this loop, caught in the dark until you decide you've had enough. I know this is just a very personal opinion but man, so much of it reminded me of myself and the people I got to know in rehab - all of our suns vanished. Taken by this "otherworldly" illness that messes with your brain, that you can't get a grasp on how to fight against. All different and yet similar in fighting, losing and (hopefully) winning. Losing people along the way, learning how to cope with the symptoms, what does and doesn't work. I think TSV transferred over to our world again bc he has taken the needed steps for himself. Now its Nat's turn and Tucker is still fighting too. Thanks for the complete overview of this, I was an avid follower of the TSV account when it started out but completely lost touch during the pandemic :)

TSV is one of those special stories in this space because at the end of the day it's about personal growth. It's the apocalypse, but it manages to stay personal and small despite the huge problems going on. Such a strong story, even if it has a lot of unanswered questions.
@Lord_Mad_Dog Жыл бұрын
this is why i appreciate having retrospective-type channels like this. tsv is one of my favorite stories and it was super hard to keep up with because i didnt have a twitter. plus with all the changes happening with twitter/x its harder to follow. same thing goes for multiple mediums/sites/channels so having it all laid out in one place is nice

To me it seems as if Ummy didn't become obsessed with the dark water. It seems as if WTP forced Ummy to drink the blood for their new experiments. They most likely figured out that he had a sample because the guard ratted him out. And that was a perfect moment to both make an example of Ummy and get an evaluation of what is happening to TSV
@luthfihar3211 Жыл бұрын
I feel like this is a story revolving the dark place everyone goes through during their lowest point, Tucker's was grieve over his family, Nat was her loneliness, while TSV's was dread of being in a toxic relationship

for a lot of people, this is the first time theyve even thought about tsv as a series since its peak in 2018/2019, and i can honestly see why. Early TSV for those who don't know was absolutely *riddled* with spontaneous hiatuses, some lasting months, with no rhyme or reason as to when they'd start or end. It had gotten so bad that a lot of people unfortunately had begun to associate the series with those spontaneous hiatuses, and thus a lot of horror creators at the time thought that covering it again to update the story was a lost cause because they thought that continuing to cover a series that will just disappear every now and then for months on end wasn't worth it that being said I love that this story finally got some form of an ending after nearly 5 years, i just feel bad for all the people who didnt even know the story was still going and now have to catch up on 5 years of story following multiple characters and arcs. Which normally wouldn't be an issue, i mean AO3 is a peak example that mfs have NO issue reading through hundreds of thousands of words if the story is good. But the fact that TSVs entire plotline remains isolated to *twitter* , a site that barely works after elon ran it into the ground, makes reading all of the lore an absolute chore since there (to my knowledge) arent any other venues to read up on it except for videos like these

41:30 only halfway through but the pandemic parallel is SO true, especially for nat’s age. I turned 13 a couple weeks after lockdown started and I resonate with the character so much. Even their parents being locked in the basement is what it felt like sometimes to be in the same place with my family for so long that we became detached from eachother just for the sake of our own sanities. Its eerie how well that experience was captured in this story 2 years before it even happened

with further story context i think danyon not just answering that question is very normal actually--not unusual at all for that kind of person to demand you do xyz to prove yourself to them only to act like youre making a huge demand of them when you ask for the same in return, even in a more gentle way. also the ending tweet is interesting. two periods is a shortcut in navigating a filesystem via command line, telling the computer to move up one directory instead of having to type out your entire destination. they obviously have no issue posting videos without any caption at all, s the inclusion of that detail further sells the sub-dimension/alternate reality idea to me.

Live action filming in Canada would be interesting, especially late mid-late november and well into the next few months. It can remains dark from around 4:00 in the evening until 10:00 in the morning. You can literally take a nap after coming home from something, and wake up and it'll still be dark... Because you missed the few hours of daylight. Plus in the city, it'll like a void in the sky unless you look carefully for the tiny dots that are stars and distant planets.

This entire series was great. I don't use Twitter, so this was my first intro to this series, but I was amazed at the storytelling, the plot, and everything else. And related to your question near the end, I personally think that this is where the "Remember" folder comes in. I haven't watched all of your thoughts on what the story is really about, I heard you start talking about your theory about how it's all about people's toxic relationships, and it sparked my imagination for my own theory that I wanted to write down before finishing hearing yours. The sun going out is all of them realizing how the metaphorical light of their life has gone out. The dark water starts appearing where characters have negative associations because of their relationships (the dark water starts appearing after tsv decided to stay put after the person in control of their toxic relationship says he's coming to tsv's house. When tsv goes to a neighbor's house which should be getting water from the same supply, it isn't dark until tsv has been there a while) Drinking the dark water is indulging in the toxic relationship which causes pain, but eventually your brain adapts and doesn't feel it anymore and convinced itself that it's normal or even good. We the people are those online who act like manipulative or controlling relationships are normal, maybe it hurts for a while, but eventually it'll feel better and trying to go back to water will hurt so why do it? At the end tsv gets diagnosed with a terminal illness being directly caused by the relationship, and because tsv feels they're going to die anyways, may as well do the thing that feels like it'd going to kill them, so cuts off the relationship, and sees the light again, the light only part of their brain remembered even existed
