Hi Nick, Thanks for your great videos. Would this be a likely fix for a DS713+ with blinking blue light as well? Thank you.

No clue. I haven't had the chance to fix a DS713+ yet

@@NicksElectronicRepair Thanks for the quick reply. Nothing on the board looks wrong, battery replaced, and tried new power supply, but usually just blinks blue forever. had taken it out of operation and left if turned off for over a year and it mordaciously booted a couple of times, then subsequently returned to the infinite blue blinking light. not sure it is worth the the cost to have you look at it. sad.

Yeah it could be a software failure, could be a hardware failure. We have seen both cause this. There are a lot of reasons why it wouldn't boot, it's hard to say what is the cause.

Hi Nick, does this model suffer from the Atom C2000 bug? Can I send in just the daughter board?
@NicksElectronicRepairАй бұрын
This unit does not suffer from the Atom C2000 bug. If you send just the daughter board we can test it and fix it if it's defective, but we wouldn't be able to offer the 1 year warranty on the repair because other parts in the unit can and do fail. When you send in the unit we do peform multiple repairs to ensure the unit is fully refurbished and does not experience any repeat failures. If you sent in just the daughter board we could reduce the cost of the repair but would have to waive the warranty. I would recommend if you want to discuss options further to reach out by filling out our contact form. Here is a link to it below: nickselectronics.com/pages/contact

This ic is a usb-flash controller, do we need to reprogram the firmware for it?

Hi, nice video. I have change the chip on my ds1511+ but it still blue blinking no beep and no vga output. Do you know if vga outup something without the usb flash drive?
@NicksElectronicRepair7 ай бұрын
Probably not but maybe not for the reason you think. The fault could be something else as well. We sometimes see this issue occur: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oKiwlGZ9j5x4qNU I don't see enough DS1511+ models to know them really well but we have fixed several in the past. I would need to diagnose it myself however.

Can i buy the daughter board or you offer to exchange daughter board for DS1511+ ?
@NicksElectronicRepair6 ай бұрын
Sorry we don't have any for sale or exchange. These boards are not available anywhere. The best I can do is offer to fix it. We offer a flat rate service for these Nas units and provide a 1 Year warrant with the repair. We request you send in the entire unit however as we would need to do a full diagnostic and repair as more can fail with these units and we would want to make sure we tackle all faults before sending it back.

Where can I get the chip from?
@NicksElectronicRepair9 ай бұрын
Sorry that is something I usually won't share. Finding a good legit supplier is very difficult and involves wasting a lot of time and money on bad parts.

My question for your customer: Did they turn their NAS on and off regularly? Like in daily?
@NicksElectronicRepair9 ай бұрын
I don't believe NAS users would turn them on and off regularly. A NAS is more of a turn-it-on once and-let-it-be type of device. 99% of users, at least the ones that send in their units for repair turn the unit on once and leave it on for 2-3 year intervals until they need to either add more drives or reboot for software updates. I also have a NAS unit we use for our business and it's on 24/7.
