This opening is absolute horror for me. Like I know these events are 100 years apart into the future but from Simon copy's perspective it was instantaneous and he was just about to go buy some nice food, go home, play some games, put on some music to decompress or something all on a nice bright day and then he just got up into literal hell. Like how do you even cope with that? I'd just drop dead from fear on the spot except he can't do that unless he's capable of blowing a fuse ( like certain someone did later on )

1:42:20 unfortunately there is another reason there are two connection points: you can choose to disconnect only one and leave the other connected, and that provides enough power to both keep Amy "alive" and to power the transit for you to progress

To those curious about details: Chris got it wrong in the outro. The pilot seats weren't actually temporarily uploading people's consciousness into robots (at least that's not what they were designed to do initially). They were simply interfacing with the machines as avatars. After the Impact WAU went rogue, tweaked them to act as brain scanners and started imaging the whole staff using the seats, unbeknownst to them. Hence the unusual magnetic interference and reports of headaches, which led to the aforementioned ban on pilot seats

What absolutely messes me up is that Rebirth has many of the same problems SOMA suffered from in the first place, e.g. useless enemies who barely pose a threat. Unbelievable. I suppose we're fortunate we got The Bunker.

7:32 - Not Amnesia, but Penumbra, which introducted HPL engine, Amnesia TDD & AMFP run on HPL2 engine, and SOMA, Amnesia R and TB on third version of that engine, which provided mostly better fluid mehanics and physics.

It's interesting to see how Librarian's vast knowledge of horror and game tropes backfired at the shuttle station- specifically in the case of sparing Amy's life. He assumed based off prior gaming and horror tropes that the only option was to kill her, whereas other gamers have found that you could in fact spare her life at the cost of unplugging only one cord instead of both. I feel like there's a lesson to take from this, but I'm not yet sure exactly what that is. It certainly is an interesting observation of the human psyche.
