This is a tutorial series for anyone who wants to learn how to use the Soma Lyra-8 to its fullest extent. The synth is simply one of the best ambient drone synthesizers and is capable of making some wonderful, beautiful, ugly, complex textures. I've tried to break things down into small videos that are easy to mentally digest and apply to your own electronic music. We will be exploring both east coast tonal and west coast avant-garde uses of the synthesizer.
This second video shows the many modulation paths for both LFO and FM in the Lyra-8. Please leave a comment with any questions or requests and a like if this was helpful.

It's funny listening to you laugh as you go along. I'm doing the same with mine. These things are awesome. Thanks for the videos.

loving the videos! thanks for putting them together. note though at about 3:40 you demo the behaviour of flipping the FM mod switchs up for 12 and 34, but i can see you had the central 34->56, 78->12 switch up, so actually at this point 34 was the mod source for 56. ( page 4 in the manual has some more details )

thanks for the correction. I get a little lost in the wilderness of the sound while I'm making these sometimes.

I'd like one, but - judging by most of the videos I've watched - you also need to cough up for a really expensive reverb.

to be honest, if you're recording into a DAW, most of them have a good reverb that will work. Logic has Chromaverb, Ableton has the IR reverbs, etc.. I typically use an H9 pedal for live. This is also true of way more expensive Buchla synths too!
