If you would have talked more to Carl in the power plant, you would have found out that he still perceived himself as a human, in a human body, and there was nothing you could say to convince him otherwise. Catherine tells you what you really look like when you meet her. She said you look like a scuba suit with extra parts. There was a bunch of robot looking scuba suits hanging all around the room that you started in when you woke up in the chair. One of them somehow interfaced with the chair while the Simon personality was being loaded.

+Kevin M The WAU somewhat clearly made Simon. You can check the usage logs on the computer and the WAU was the last one to use it. Simon is a (SPOILER) shoved into a diving suit kept together with WAU structure gel and loaded with a Simon Cortex chip.

Sparda I know, I already played the game. I just didn't want to give everything away. Only what was obvious at this point. SPOILER: You're not really supposed to find out for certain that the WAU was responsible for loading the Simon template into the suit until you get to Catherine's lab at the Theta facility.

Kevin M Yeah but you can infer that. If you read the terminals only the WAU accessed them recently. As soon as you find out the WAU uses structure gel and made the monsters you encounter I think it's reasonable to just guess the WAU made Simon. Well I guessed as much at the very least.

+Many A True Nerd Just so you know: The robot manual in the one terminal could have told you, that the little robot doesn't have a proper voice module. So, in fact, the little one could have housed a sentient AI as well, one that just couldn't talk.

@@TheHuffmanator I think that it is possible, or even likely, that we will be able to create sentient AI in the future. We can't do it now, and we might not be able to do it in 100 years, but I think it probably will happen eventually.

Out of curiosity, have you ever played Metro: 2033 or Metro: Last Light? It takes place in Russian metro tunnels after the nuclear apocalypse, and has some horror elements. It seems like something you'd like.

I also dislike horror games which utilize constant jump-scares as a tool, that is why I only played less than half of Dead Space 2. But apparently, SOMA seems to have earned my trust and a place in my Steam wishlist. Thanks again, Jon, for what seems to be the third or fourth time You have indirectly gave me very good tips on games, from Omerta, Sheltered, Soma and so fourth.

cinematic cookie: the control manipulations to open the main gate to theta is pretty close to the same ones that Ripley did to set off the Nostromo's self-destruct.

not really sure about this now. checked online clips(youtube, etc...) & can only find the Aliens Isolation: Lone Survivor dlc with Ripley and the Nostromo. I have no idea how faithful this is to the original movie. as its shown here, the sequence isn't very close to one MATN just did now. personally though, I don't think that the dlc author's precisely duplicated the s-d control sequence. anybody got an opinion?

Fun fact: Being able to watch this LP without spoiling the game for myself was one last reason for me to buy it on release day. I've never done that with any game before! (Also, wtf, sir.
