I think the reason Joichiro gravitated towards her is because she saw food as fun and a constant learning opportunity. Joichiro almost never if ever made a mistake when cooking and when you achieve perfection that many times you start to wonder what the heck are you doing this for if you constantly break your own ceiling. That clip is amazing. He got the cooking inspiration from his ma and that awesome. Some of the kids have inspirations of other things that they like or learned from their parents and it would stick to them like it's part of them. It also helps with the lively memories of their loved ones that they passed or something tragic happened to them. Right on, Food Wars!
