IOM's Migration for Development in Africa (MIDA) Programme has so far assisted 151 Somali technical consultants, including nurses, medical doctors, mid-wives, developmental experts, ITC experts, tax experts, human resource experts, communication specialists, and community based safety officers, amongst others, to deploy on short-term capacity building appointments within government institutions across Somalia. These experts are contributing to Somalia's development by helping to create the structures that will allow the Government to effectively respond to the needs of the Somalia people. They are building the institutional memory of the Somali institutions by training the next generation of Somali civil servants.
