The Genesis version is going to be "better" in that it's just the original Sonic game with replaced text and sprites. It runs on more capable hardware. The original NES version was built from scratch, really pushes the limited hardware, and is the more impressive effort

The Genesis Version is the one i have the most fond memories honestly, it gives off that vibe of "what if sega and Nintendo became friends earlier and worked together to make a new 2D mario sequel" if you get what i am saying

The Genesis version has an extra level where Somari is in the Mushroom Kingdom, once you finish it, the game goes to GreenHill Zone
