The somatosensory area is located in the parietal lobe of the brain just behind the central sulcus. The concepts of the homunculus and clinical concepts like tactile apraxia and hemineglect syndrome are also briefed.
The function of the somatosensory cortex includes two-point discrimination, tactile localization, stereognosis, and graphaesthesia.
