In this video, the discussion is on the decerebrate and decorticate rigidity. It is also called decortication A note on decerebellate rigidity and other combinations of the lesion with decerebrate rigidity is also explained. Decorticate rigidity leads to flexion of upper limbs and extension of lower limbs. Decerebrate rigidity leads to an extension of all four limbs.
The rubrospinal tract is preserved in decorticate rigidity leading to flexion of the upper limbs.

Also sir from cerebellum deep nuclei are excitatory so to that of vestibular nuclei has to be excitatory no sir
@PhysiologyLearning
@PhysiologyLearning Жыл бұрын
The deep nuclei are excitatory. But the purkinje cells have axon has inhibitory neurons to deep cerebellar nuclei and the vestibular nuclei. U can find the reference in ganong 26th edition page 242. Thank you for watching and interacting..all the best

Sir my child was affected with TB meningitis and treatment was started In third stage.he was in deteriorate position when he was in icu and after 27 days of treatment he is discharged Now he is out of coma but he cannot recognize us and he is in decortite position now. What dose this mean. Can we consider this as an improvement in his treatment

hello mam, really sorry for your child. we don't advice any online treatment suggestions. A proper clinical examination of the child along with few investigations can only be the guiding key. Hope he gets well soon.

Sir I have a doubt if alpha extensors are inhibited how they cause increased extensor as in b+c case Please explain this sir
@PhysiologyLearning
@PhysiologyLearning Жыл бұрын
Vestibular nuclei are stimulatory to alpha extensor. The vestibular nuclei are kept under inhibitory state by purkinje cells. So it the purkinje connections are cut (C). The vestibular nuclei inhibition is taken off. So they will perform the action of more extension. Hope it’s clear..😊
