Some cats get high on catnip, mine gets high on carrots

Mine too! Just came across this googling why (after carrots) my cats all of a sudden acting crazy/zombies/ hiding under the bed/ scared to go into the living room etc just n general acting totally weird similar to cat nip lol! He’s 2 1/2 years old. Never would go near a carrot as far as I knew then I fed him 2 large pieces that I figured he only ate because they were in homemade chicken soup. My husband & I noticed he was acting strange like 20 minutes later?!? The only thing we could think of- it has to be the 🥕 carrots.

I just discovered this with my cat, too! She kept trying to get at the carrots when I was chopping them. I gave her a small piece of carrot peel and she rubbed her face all over it, then rolled around on the floor with it in ecstasy for like a half hour.

My cats do this too. If I have carrot they'll beg for some, and sometimes they eat it, but they mostly want to roll/rub on it. I found out when I bought a loose carrot (I tend to buy sacks) and left it in the kitchen trolley. When I came to use it, it was full of their fang marks.

i made carrot juice today , and my cat ate the leftover pulp and now hes rolling on the floor as if i gave him catnip ..weird

My cat did the same thing a few months ago. I bought a bag of carrots and she was rubbing all over it and nipping at it!! It was hilarious! Must be something in there that mimics catnip.

she loves raw garlic too. if i hold a clove she will do the same thing. still dose the same thing every time i bring home a back of carrots. 4 years later.

Don't give her garlic 🙀, it's poisonous to cats, as are onions. 😵

Yep my cat goes slow motion na-nas rolling on the floor around half a large carrot which is perfect cone shape to roll back to her. Never bites it, just makes slow long love to it for half an hour or so, and then ignores it.

It's the sweetness of the carrots. Every dog I've had loved carrots. This cat's trying to bite the carrot, to get a chunk. Give them the carrot, and they'll eat it. A cat might struggle, given the teeth they have. Might choke on a chunk.
