With nobody in sight except for a female yard trucker. Couldn't get her to help me cos she wouldn't even look my way even if i honked or flashed my low beam at her. At the end an older man helped me. He said just drop it in the middle and he'll put it in. And now I've come a long way 🤣 been helping other rookies whenever i see i can. Always managed to get them out of sticky situations 💪

This tip helped me 45 years ago. I Put your hand at the bottom of the steering wheel. If you want your trailer to go left, move you hand to the left. If you want to go right, move your hand to the right. Once the wheel is turning in front of your eyes, use both hands to turn the wheel if needed. This helped me to turn the wheel the correct direction and my backing up got much better.

That’s being a TRUE professional driver. Even the best of us need a little assistance sometimes. It’s not just good manners, but real professional courtesy. This job has enough problems with cars cutting us off and drivers getting blamed for broker screw ups. If you see a driver having trouble backing, get off your rear and give him/her some assistance. You’d be surprised at how good karma comes back around when you need it.

Thanks, for helping this driver out. Safe travels. 1st problem was the flip flops, 2nd problem was lack of experience. The experience he will get with time hopefully sooner than later but we all learn at different paces and that's alright as long as you don't panic. He was very lucky here to have some help especially someone to offer to back it for him. Sometimes you can get so frustrated that you can't even see properly anymore, it's like staring at a blank screen. Now the 1st problem, that's on him to grow as a man and I'm sure where he makes pick ups and deliveries there's signs that say "Proper footwear!". In his defense maybe he only wears them while driving. Didn't really have time here to change footwear. LOL.

First off all he should sight in his target door , Blown on by turned the truck around came in with that telephone pole on his passenger side and hugged the pole till he had site of his target , Then adjust his trailer to hit the target . Always keep your enemy aka pole in your mirror . You already sighted your target between pole and ditch . If you hug the pole then you know there is room from the ditch on blind side . 40 years of backing 53s in the city , I have been in some bad holes .

We all have moments no matter how many years. I only have 3 years exp with regional work, used to all kinds of docks. But this particular place took me over an hr. Building was angled, and I could for the life of me not get it straight, always crook. It was a dirt lot, so there were no lines. I've since learned to correct the issue. If you're crooked touching the driver side bumper dock, all you have to do is pull forward a bit, then turn the steering wheel to the right to angle it. GOAL a few times if needed until straight. Hopefully, this will help someone. Safe travels.

Many years ago (1993 - at least no automatics then ! 🤣) I was new to driving and having difficulty getting backed inside a steel mill. Another driver saw me struggling to get lined up and gave me some advice on what to do, which in my situation was use more of the space available in front of door to line up straight, then back in, rather than try to turn and line up while reversing. Although I haven't driven over the road in years, I still remember that encounter.
