You have a fine assortment of plants and growing methods to select from Shaun! Everything from a short stunted plant up to some rigorous growers ending the first half of the calendar year. There are times when simple can win the race as you clearly demonstrated with your new water storage unit sliding across the lawn. That is surely a clear and simple move! Have stopped picking off flowers here, and just gone around with a half strength fertilizer dose. Barney and those crazy big floppy ears he has. Somewhere there is a greater power that has a fine sense of humor. While looking forward to the live stream in the morning... Stay Spicy!! -Bob...

I learned the same lesson with my corn and pole beans this year. Planted them at the same time, big mistake. I keep having to cut the beans back so the corn can grow. But I think it is having the effect of making the beans much bushier. Might actually increase production. I'm worried about production overall this year though. Being in Pennsylvania, we are having a bit of a struggle. Started off with almost no rain for the entire month of May. Now we are battling the wildfire smoke.

@3:45 why don't you try using a plant cage and string it up through there? I do something similar with some of my young plants that Branch out too much, I use a plant stake and run plant string from the top of the stake to the branches to hold them up. I think you could do this with a plant cage to help hold it upright.

It's looking great considering the exposure. Thanks for the inspiration. I like to wrap my pots in panda film when it gets too hot. Even cover the clay. The white side out will keep the sun off the pots and the black side keeps the lights off the roots. Another thing to do is get an aquarium chiller hooked up to the reservoir. Your plants get so huge every year! I only have a couple that made it through the crazy spring. A peach ghost pepper and a Murasaki purple.

Thanks Shaun for another great update. never too long for me! Regarding the Olho de Peixe; Most died here too, and the one left took a long time. But giving it a fair bit more water and a place in between some bigger plants for some shade during the hottest parts of the day might work. Mine really took off. It's still a small plant, but looking healthy, having gis Y split and first flowers coming. Will try to make and share a pic here from it tomorrow.

Here in Texas it has been close to 40C for the last few weeks and none of my peppers look shrivelled like that. They are in the ground however. Whenever I have a pepper look shriveled it's because of a nutrient issue or aphids. It's possible that a different nutrient to water ratio is required in the hotter temperatures.

Awesome video. If I like the content, 30 minutes is a minimum haha. 😊 Beyond painting the pots and the res in white, maybe adding some kind of cooling solution to the res? Understood that means adding one more possible point of failure though… This year I go the oldschool route with a frozen water bottle dunked in. Definitely not scalable or easy to automatise of course.
